Are there any open source implementations of the RetroAchievement backend? Best way to mitigate chomo interferences would be to decentralize chevos, maybe have two services with their own games and hashes, maybe a bigger one that would merge the two of em and redirect any requests to the proper server.

Since RA is ran by potential NAMbLA members, it's better to keep your eggs out of their troonbasket.

Sorta interested in seeing if an attempt to get some talking heads in on this to force the issue into the mainstream would bare either results or at least something funny. Like, getting Asmongold or whoever the fuck to do a 10 minute "these people are fucking insane!" rant would kick the action up a couple levels.

No, there isn't. And anyone saying "WE SHOULD TOTES FORK RA AND MAKE IT BETTER" is a dumbass after the embarrassing disaster that was "LET'S FORK TCRF AND SCRUB THE TROON SHIT".

The issue is really, that normal, well adjusted people simply don't have the time to keep up with these kinds of hobbys. It's why trannys and terminally online losers who have unlimted free time take over spaces like this.

There are some client-side code and API docs that are openly available to users and emulator devs. Unless there is some advanced and proprietary game-state analysis that is completely server-sided, it wouldn't be too hard to build a website serving game hashes with their cheevos requirements, as well as some sort of database of every user's achievements.

Could be a good learning experience for an ambitious autist, especially if money is involved.

Clover's comment wall has been locked in order for the staff to clean it up. It turns out that shutting off channels of communication isn't good when people will just step into the autistic thunderdome anywhere.

If you’re on Reddit, you should post a link on his subreddit.

RetroAchievements was always for the autistic speedrunner types anyways. This response should shock no one. The achievements on these lists were so retardedly hard that it made for great content to show people suffering earning them. Most of these would never make it onto a real achievement list. It's overly complex shit like, "finish level 3 in 20 seconds while hopping on one foot and simultaneously patting your head and rubbing your stomach"

tele chimed in over on his user wall, regarding his recent decisions. Spoilering the full text of the longest post.
Thanks, folks. I thought the #IStandWithTele thing on Discord was funny, but didn't think it was actually going to start being a thing. o7

I always try to think of options where "everybody wins," but I was busy when the shitshow started and didn't come in until the backpedaling, so it felt like I was too late to do anything meaningful. From what I could tell, most of admin/mods agree with me, but their hands are tied due to being vetoed by the owner/founder of RA. I have nothing against Scott, but I think his decision to backpedal what the others agreed on was made in a panic over the doxxing/harassment/threats he was subjected to. It's pretty much common knowledge that he has been admittedly hands-off the project for the better part of a decade and I don't think he realized how disruptive his decision was going to be considering how much the site has grown over the years. He left "us" in charge of handling and shaping RA. If the idiots who threatened him were actually involved with the site, they would know this. The shit that happened was ultimately the result of internet terrorism succeeding, which it obviously shouldn't have.

The option for people to completely block certain games from showing up anywhere for them was being discussed, but I left before that conversation went anywhere. I guess it would be similar to how Steam handles it. I don't know if it ended up being on the table, but I personally think it's the only "everybody wins" solution to this problem and I believe everyone should be pushing for that so we can try to resolve this. It should feel like a community decision. I think there would be too much backlash and drama overwise. So if people actually want to help, I think they should be encouraging Scott and RAdmin to head in that direction instead of this attempt at content curation to pacify a bunch of assholes that we'll probably never see again anyway.
He puts much of the blame on Scott for flaking so easily around the Bluesky dwellers and troons, along with confirming that Scott was a recipient of death threats. I would archive but neither Ghostarchive or archive.is want to play nice with RA for some reason.

Scott sort of reminds me of Matt Groening. A guy who conceptualized a good idea, and then let better, more talented and skillful people takeover. Yet he's the one who gets all the credit and blame for things from people outside the know. Kind of a oblivious guy that doesn't really know what his site is doing a the moment.

I think we're starting to see XKreeper wanting to worm his way into RetroAchievements moderation. He's been very active on the Discord and on his Bluesky. A new website for him to be a janny on.

Cuz of this, I got the rom. Really liking it so far.
The humor is a little dated (as in the memes are sometimes stale but perhaps that's inevitable with the passage of time) but Clover as a whole is really put together well.

Although the memes are old, I find that era of internet humor very nostalgic. It works for me.

God, I forgot how tough the first gym is when you pick a fire starter, but I couldn't help it. A terrorist bomber fire type? Perfect!

Maybe tag Metokur on X, or Andy Warski of Kino Casino. He has an RA account afterall. Just a thought.

They reset the "set request" counter on the hash. It's still up. Currently has around 50 requests. Be funny to see it gain back those requests, and shoot to #2 again.

I saw a thread pop up last night a user made about quitting RA. The few replies it got were snarky/mocking comments. He then edited his original post to say one of the users making the comment had sexually harassed him in the past. He was immediately muted for that, and the thread disappeared. Sorry, I didn't do my due diligence and screenshot it. I didn't expect it to vanish so quickly. That really irked me though. Seeing some longtime RA user quit because of drama, and be mocked for it, then the thread vanishes like it never happened. 😞

Unsurprising, trannies have been seething about clover for years and earlier this year a tranny janny named Kimberton mysteriously appeared, vandalized the vandash page, then locked it and vanished.

Vandash is the niggermon, often used as a HM slave.

Been a while since I last saw seething about Clover, should've figured it'd only be a matter of time until Clover is drawing attention again.

FYI Clover could poke fun at anyone, it has a pig cop Pokemon too.
Anyway, I recommend it to anyone who liked Fire Red and Leaf Green. Clover is heavily built on their structure and even replicates the feeling of discovering hidden areas and secret legendaries surprisingly well.

Interesting to note that RA does currently host a Yellow hack that serves as a bit of a prequel to Clover named Periwinkle. It was made by much of the same team who worked on Clover.

It even has a subset created by one of the site's moderators, Hexadigital.

For context, a Professor Oak's Challenge is a challenge run of Pokemon where one is expected to register every Pokemon as caught in the Pokedex, within a badge milestone, through catching, excessive grinding to evolve, etc. They are among the site's most popular subsets known colloquially as "Checkpoint Challenges".

While it has much of the shock humor and parody that Clover does, it does not have as deep of a custom Pokedex. It has the Kanto Pokedex, with a couple of alterations and tweaks. In this hack, the Pikachu you would get in Yellow is instead replaced by Blobbos (fandom archive).

On the game's forum topic, the RAdmin account has acknowledged this hack's connection to Clover by linking to Clover's thread. Unfortunately, the comment it refers to has been deleted seemingly.RAdmin.png
