Considering the developers who are leaving the site, I checked who Scott is bringing on board to replace them. The last two additions to the team are "online anime girls". There is also this kino release today.

Jesus Christ, it took all of two seconds for the snowball to happen. "RA says Trans Rights" as if they weren't clear enough who they've chosen to lie with.

I hate trannies so much. I don't care who you want to fuck. I don't even care if you want to chop your cock off. Just keep it to your own world. Trannies feel the need to infest everything they touch with in your face bullshit. And if you don't like it in the slightest you're a heckin chud.

clock ticking until RA ropes now, all the new brave stunning transqxeens can only pretend to do so much with so many leaving who actually know how to do something

They always do it because they want to rile up people into daring to criticize it and giving them an excuse to ban you, nothing more.

Just look at the way Xkeeper handled that entire TCRF title logo issue in the worst way possible.

As much as I'd love for a offbrand version and community of RetroAchievements to happen, I strongly doubt it'll get anywhere and it might just as well result in the service getting nuked or abandoned/support dropped from it altogether because of all the drama around it, but I'd be gladly proven wrong.

Honestly don't really care what morons do with their dicks, why the fuck would you need cheevos for old games?
I was skeptical, but genuinely enjoy having achievements in older games. Even putting the dopamine hit aside, a fair number of sets that I've played have achievements for Easter eggs (e.g., viewing different stages of the bird nest in Symphony of the Night). There are tons that expose quirks of older games (off the top of my head, beating the intro area in Earthbound using only your left hand) or have challenges I didn't know were even possible (beating Ganon's Tower in Link to the Past without having a sword equipped). They're also really nice for what effectively becomes in-game tracking of item collection if you play RPGs, since there are usually cheevos for collecting all treasures in each area and notifications keep track of your count.

There are, of course, tons of badly designed sets and achievements, but I just avoid those when I'm playing. I'm sure the Super Mario Bros set has tons of annoying speedrunning requirements, and I won't bother if I ever get around to replaying that game.

Not even a month and they come up with this shit, prepare for people to get banned for """"hate speech"""" (AKA, criticism about how dogshit the game is)

If these are the people that will take the place of the senior devs, i fear the moment an user asks for a achievement to be fixed

In fact, if the admins also leave, what are the chances they will be able to fix the page if something breaks it?

Please see post #187 of this thread for an accurate representation of exactly how it'll go.

I wanted to bring attention to this. I joined after this dev retired, but I've heard whispers of things. Be interesting if anyone had any info on why she quit. She seems like a good person, along with Alena, who from my understanding got screwed out of making a set for Arc the Lad 3 for some reason. Not sure if related to current goings on.

Yeah, there's stuff on RA for people who simply want to track their progress. For example, achievements that are linked to side quests serve as a great checklist for older games with minimal UI. Before RA, your only option was to skim guides for missable content.
Not sure if related to current goings on.
That JAM guy went through a ban of his own. https://retroachievements.org/forums/topic/12616
You can see how different moderation was back then (2021). Now, you may receive a ban after XKeeper has sent your IP to the RA moderators for being rude in now-deleted comments on his blog.

It seems like none of those things are related to anything currently going on, but are related to disagreements with administration.
Salsa's retirement was related to PS1 achievements release, I digged this from the discord.

There was also a forum post but it has been deleted since then, I tried checking on the wayback machine but it's shitting itself up right now.

And I found this on the Alena situation, both messages are in portuguese, so I'm spoilering translations under them.

Guys, here's the thing: from what I understand, the problem isn't losing the claim itself, but rather the treatment given to someone who's been a developer at RA for eight years and has a good reputation for their sets and such.

There are rules, yes, and there's the issue of claims, renewals, and such. The issue, from what I understand, is: @Alena is upset because she dedicated herself to the first and second Arc the Lad games and had already put in many hours of work on the third game (several code notes, etc.). And then, because she didn't renew the claim (for her own reasons), someone else came along and took it on the same day—and, apparently, there's a long-standing beef between these two people and likely some favoritism on the part of some RA admins.

In other words, Alena feels like she's been ripped off, that's all. Getting angry, offending, and so on might be wrong, but the point is: the whole context, all the work already invested, etc., etc. It's understandable to at least be a little upset, right?

If the other dev wanted to do this set so badly, could they, I don't know, ask Alena to do it as a duo, maybe? You know, just out of respect for the other dev's commitment to this franchise. Maybe try to talk it out, go do another set, and wait for a notification from the first dev, you know? The way it was, it seems like it was just, "Oh, she messed up, now it's mine." Is that wrong? No, but it would be a matter of "good neighborliness," in my opinion.

That's it, peace out, folks.

Unfortunately, many good devs end up not having the free time needed to dedicate to RA precisely because they're using their talents in the real world.

In Alena's case, knowing how busy she was, I helped her as much as I could to release Arc the Lad I, II, and Bonus. But with III, she simply ran out of time and ended up making no progress since her last pre-order. She knew they wouldn't authorize the renewal even if she tried, because it was a pre-order originally scheduled for 2022.

Unfortunately, we don't always manage to finish the projects we start.

On a side note, thank you hack developer of Sonic Delta for adding in a different cheating method specifically to allow people to cheat in Hardcore. It's why I never updated it. Thankfully SEGA is very supportive of ROM hacks.
I sympathize with this guy for the rest of post, but what’s this supposed to mean? He wanted to get Delta DMCA’d because it bypassed hardcore mode?

Thanks for the info. I don't mean to shine light on innocent users. Both Alena, and Salsa are great people I'm sure. Just trying to pursue any possible lead.

Some highlights from talks Tele has had with Scott. According to Tele, Scott has started to listen. Also, Tele has taken it upon himself to unmask XKeeper for Scott, which is hilarious. Keep up the good work brother.

But at the end of the day, it comes down to Scott, really. Who is he going to listen to? His top guy who's basically made the website for him or some random tranny who has little to no investment in the community?
