From what I have seen with aggressive parents working the system the whole supposedly objective grading system can be basically thrown out. These families can basically pick and choose what grades/classes to ignore or accept. Or even get the school to grade their kid on a different curve then kids. the whole extra circular activity requirement goes out the window also.
Sadly it's almost always the super privileged families who take advantage of this.
It's a not bad thing to let spergs in college. But it does sort of annoy me hes taking the place of someone who could potentially understand and apply that knowledge. It also plays into the "I am autistic and everyone should treat me differently!" problem
I wouldn't put to much faith in the objective grading systems in general. Remember who made honor role?

Apart from things that are notably black and white such as math, grades have limits. C use to be average, now it extends to A. Families and Kids get pathetically dogmatic about grade point averages that they miss the big picture.
Are you learning anything new?
There are successes in alternative education, smaller class sizes, peer review as opposed to letter grades, actually discussing and taking feedback from your professor - as opposed to this master and unworthy pupil bullshit. The problem is not everyone is the same - you can't systematize it 100%.
Some kids thrive in these environments others tank hard and become complete hedonists. Its not long before they are reshuffled into some shittier school where their shitty behavior falls between the cracks.
It almost depends on whether the kid has any interest in learning.
I met a barkeep who quit education because the pay was better with booze.
This also reminds me of Tang Dynasty china in a little known conflict involving
scholar officials, eunuchs...
and
Empress Wu
Judge Dee is a cool movie with an overly elaborate assassination attempt too. Features parkour totally legit.
