Box dye won't take on my hair, no matter how long I leave it on, I just end up with damaged hair and a foul chemical smell. If I want my hair dyed I have to go to a salon and give them a month's worth of rent money to rub the industrial strength stuff into my scalp. My hair is light brown so it's not a problem with my natural colour. There's just something about it that resists dye.

It gets even weirder when it comes to my fingernails and toenails; any type of gloss or polish, regardless of whether it's a professional manicure with high quality polish, or a $2 bottle from the sale basket at the chemist, makes my fingernails separate into multiple thin sheets of keratin that then flake away or break off.

My keratin is weird and I don't know why.
