RFK Jr.’s autism registry

Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who’s been facing backlash over anti-scientific, offensive and belittling remarks he made about the basic abilities of autistic people, is launching a disease registry to track Americans with autism. The news raises a host of data security concerns, in addition to questions about how Kennedy might use the data to advance his conspiratorial and harmful health agenda.

Advocates for people with autism have decried Kennedy’s recent comments that autism is a “preventable” disease that “destroys families,” and Kennedy has hired a discredited vaccine researcher to investigate debunked claims that autism and vaccines are linked. So the idea that the health secretary wants to compile a database of Americans who have a condition he seems intent on spreading falsehoods about is more than a little suspect.

CBS News reports: “Between 10 and 20 outside groups of researchers will be given grant funding and access to the records to produce Kennedy’s autism studies.”

If this is real it really should only cover low functioning autism. I don't think it should track those with Aspergers or high functioning autism.
If it's gonna be purely available to medical facilities and not to the general public and doesn't have personally identifying information, then I'm ok with it including high functioning autism and shit.

This is dumb

I definitely think someone who isn't business as usual needs to be in charge because fuck the soyence and the bug pharma shills. Looking for causes is good.

Government lists are invariably bad.

Why yes I'm a 2a, 1a and other amendment supporter why do you ask?

I don't doubt one of those things may be the culprit but it seems difficult to pin it on any one thing.
I'm gonna go with a more simple explanation: its just that doctors are looking for autism now. Back in the 90's none of the other kids in elementary where autists, nobody was talking about it. There was a kid who had a cousin who had downs and there were talk of other problems like a girl with leukemia, but autism? asperger's? what? there were some talk about depression and that's when they started medicating kids. By the late 90's the talk of the day was ADHD, even south park made fun of that. In both cases a lot of kids were given pills they may or may not have needed. In retrospective now that I know what autism is some of the kids I knew back then might been autistic, there was something off about them, but back then you just thought they were weird and whatever. My guess is that doctors didn't pay much attention to this and many autists just went undiagnosed. Nowadays it might be overdiagnosed since another sperg=another prescription for medical meth.

I think some of the autism diagnosis given out are obviously confused for selective mutism which causes social difficulty and sperging. It's hard to discern but I don't think I've seen as much low functioning autistic people recently (people who are non verbal) and most of the shit I hear about is faggots on tiktok roleplaying with tics and other bullshit and pretending to be autistic.

It's much the same as ADHD where the people that actually have it face severe challenges that are a bit more involved than "I can't wake up in the morning" or "I'm too fat and stupid to do anything productive in my life"

I don't think actual autists should be on some Aktion-T4 elimination list like Wormy seems to think, but perhaps there should be a list of redditors faking it.

There's some weird borderline with autism though. I've been told I clearly have it by a few people who work in education but actual doctors are less than certain - but there's not even any value in getting a diagnosis because there's no magic pill that solves it. I think prolonged internet activity can probably mimic the symptoms though which leads to confusion.
I've come across many people online who claim to have it but it leaves me extremely doubtful when I look at their entire presence, but then again it supposedly presents differently... but if you're high-functioning there's clearly "a way" you should look at data and the world. I am pretty sure there are a bunch of people who just end up acting like they have it due to difficulties with socialization but don't really seem to have autistic minds. Maybe they are autistic but they're the shitty, generic, normie kind of autistic people who don't walk around the world with an inherent and inescapable need to categorize everything they see - I don't think therapy or social skills help can mask the "spreadsheet in the mind" shit

They really shouldn't have gotten rid of the aspergers label since it just confuses what strong, actual autism is, which is apparently an extremely dehabilitating condition. There's obviously plenty of borderline cases and they should've stayed in aspergers land.

lol I saw a post today: “I’m holding off on getting my 18 month old diagnosed, I cancelled the appointment soon as I read the news!”

I am highly uncomfortable with this, and I think anyone regardless of belief or political persuasion should be alarmed these firewalls are crumbling.
What if I told you that Data Protection Laws have always been a bald-faced lie, and the US Government can requisition whatever data they want about you, rubber stamp it with a secret court, there's fuck all anybody can do about it, and it's been this way since probably the dawn of the Cold War?

Also autists like Bathtub Ross belong on a number of government lists, if not in the ground. Change my mind.

Imagine taking medical advice from a completely unqualified lunatic who can't even speak in English without sounding like he's dying, and on top of that, his brain was eaten by worms.
Exactly what I thought and not only that, he was a meth addict and one of his family members (Rosemary Kennedy) was lobotomised. You don't want this nigga in charge of anyone with mental health disorders, disabilities, or substance use problems. Not only that, but this drooling senile wants to add more residential treatment facilities (wellness farms) to get people off psych meds, and if you've ever been in or heard about the shit that goes on in psych wards/residentials, you know how stupid of an idea that is. Mixing people with a diverse set of issues in a middle of no where facility ends up terrible most of the time.

Also anyone who genuinely needs to be in an institution is likely to have something like schizophrenia, and antipsychotics are about the only class of psych meds that unequivocally work are antipsychotics. They don't work for everyone but for those where they do, they're often the difference between being at least semi-normal and being a babbling drooling homeless person.

At least it makes sense not to want everyone on SSRIs.
