I didn’t want to clog up the Friday Night Funkin thread with other game discussion so I thought it best to make this thread.

You can talk about whatever rhythm games you want to but I’ll start with Scratchin’ Melodii.

Scratchin’ Melodii is an indie title being developed by the artist LephemStar with a demo you can try out if you want to. The game is basically Parappa and Rhythm Heaven mashed together in a blender.

At the moment it is slowly gaining popularity through tiktok memes and YouTube let’s plays. Reception is mixed on the project due to its use of vocaloid vocals among other things. For a demo it’s pretty good and has some catchy tunes. Time will tell if Lephem accepts the feedback and remasters the songs with better vocals.

This thread is not only about this game. Feel free to talk about other rhythms franchises—lord knows I could sperg about guitar hero for hours.

scratchin' melodii has that odd mixed vibe of parappa the rapper and warioware gold, hell i wouldn't be suprised if the games artsyle is inspired by warioware

I'm an absolute brainlet when it comes to multi-button rhythm games, so a game like groove coaster is right up my alley

Although I do want to play the new theatrhythm when that comes out

The only rhythm game ive played so far and i dont play much game either

Oh good, I can sperg about the DDR series and how it turned into a festering pile of shit over the years.

Man I really fucking miss Guitar Hero. Clone Hero is great but I don't have a properly functioning controller and I haven't found any from where I live. The ones I've found are mad expensive and most likely completely trashed second hand crap.

There was another general rhythm game thread but seemed to never gain any traction. Hopefully this one will fare better.

An update from my last post there:

A few months ago, the top US DDR player Chris4Life was called out by a top JP player using an illegal VPNed-to-Indonesia private machine (Konami doesn't sell cabs to private owners) to get WRs.

There are basically 6 "types" of region machines that can run the newest version of DDR.

- Japan cabs
- Japan-exclusive gold cabs
- US cabs
- Korea cabs
- SEA (Southeast Asia) cabs
- Hawaii cabs

There are three types of "world record" scores that are saved to Konami's online network, e-amusement.

- World record
- Area/Regional record
- Single machine record

The newest version of DDR, DDR A3, was released for Gold cabs in March of this year, followed by everyone else in June.

Well, almost everyone. Except for US cabs. As of this posting, for reasons unknown to anyone but Konami, they are still stuck on the previous version A20+. This is because US cabs, mainly found in Dave and Busters and Round1, run a special type of software that in the past has required a special USB dongle to upgrade. For some reason, even though every other machine in the world has been on A3 for months, these US cabs have such a special software (or Konami is being that super incompetent) that the update for these machines is "still being worked on"

However, there are gold cabs that can be played at some US Round1s**Yes, there are Round1s that are now running two different versions of DDR, but once you move your data from A20+ to A3 any future high scores in A20+ don't get passed to A3 and vice versa. So majority of US players are still sticking to the older version., it's just that its region is hardcoded to Osaka. So anytime you set a new area record, it is filed as being set in the Osaka area.

The top JP player that caught Chris plays in Osaka.

He noticed that Chris was getting all of these world records on A3 songs. However, if Chris was playing legitimately in America, he should've been only been able to get them on a gold cab (he doesn't live in Hawaii), so his record should show up as both a world record and an area record. Yet, the record was only showing up as a world record. Kinda sus.

Then some SEA players who actually live in SEA were like "yeah, he doesn't live in Indonesia, which kinda sucks because he's taking all the 'regional' SEA scores for himself even though he doesn't actually live here"

It's been a known secret that Chris has been doing this for a long time, even going so far to fake arcade ambient noise on his videos to hide the fact to what he's doing is illegal. But no one dare wants to say anything publicly because he's the "GOAT" and literally worshipped in the community as a god. Funny thing is, he could've avoided all of this by simply not playing the newest version on the illegal home cab or only playing on the gold cabs, but he let the egoism of being the best in the world get to his head and ended up self-outing himself. :story:

Instead of fessing up, he basically told the JP player to keep quiet...

RTed some passive aggressive "wahhh konami hates private cab users"

1665413866015.png

and has since stopped posting any pics/videos from said cab. No legal action or anything like that has seemed to come from Konami.

There has also been some long-ass Twitlongers/google docs lately on some players being physical abusers to women lately, but idk any of these people to begin with to really post about in detail, and after a while it basically boils down to holy fuck stop putting your dick (or pussy) in crazy.

A tl;dr of one of them (stolen from /jp/):

>he lied to me about stuff and was mean to me :(
>but I told him I loved him and sex with him repeatedly anyway
>I was groomed even though I was already 21
>the fact that he was giving me a place to live for free and paying for my life is just proof I was being manipulated
>apparently this is the dozenth time this has happened and it's somehow the "community's" fault and totally not the responsibility of any of his "victims" to say anything about it please respect their privacy thanks
>here's 3 links where you can send me money

So I have two guitar hero controllers for different consoles and if you can find a ps2 controller just purchase a dongle to hook it to your computer and it works fine. No clue on how to he try whammy bar input to work but I’m lazy and haven’t looked around enough.

Also thanks for contributing from the old thread. I figured this topic already had one but I hadn’t seen any new threads and figured it wouldn’t be bad for me to make this one.

The fact zoomers don't appreciate step-rhythm games makes me sad.
