Is it just me, or does the Bemani community have a REALLY BAD archiving problem?

This mostly relates to BMIIDX files. Regarding the official Konami ones, the BMS terminal at bemaniso.ws has been 404'd for MONTHS, and whatever alt links people have up for it are fucking dead (MEGA, MediaFire, OneDrive, etc...). The worst are the japanese-made files (BMS Of Fighters, and the sort). Almost every single fucking link is dead, so all those old files are more than likely lost to time. Yamajaet seems to be the only dude that still has his shit readily available. Everyone else (e.g. wonderland*material(s), paraoka, cranky, etc..), not so much. You can find people playing them on youtube (granted, those videos are old) but most of the time they don't have a "go here to download" link in the discription. What I find baffling is that the community doesn't seem to care about that and consideres it a non-issue. Pretty much an "ohnothatsucks.png", and then fucking crickets when someone requests a re-upload. I managed to find one site that claims to have a fuck-ton of them but it's gated under a registration that you have to wait to be accepted for in order to access the site. That's fucking bullshit.

I fear for the DDR SMFiles that they too will one day be treated the same way. Back in the day DDRUK was THE site to go to for the best official DDR Sm Files, until that went down and then Zenius-I-Vanisher took their place and to this day they are updating those files for current times. How does anyone know those files will be securely backed-up heaven firbid something happens to that site?

not surprised, zoomers don't know shit about archiving/hoarding and link rot is a thing. best start now.

as for the registration, that might make it easier for legal protection. nips can be quite annoying in that regard. otherwise the only other option is lurking in the "community" or other obvious places, make some steady requests till the right person notices it and maybe some day some archivebro shows up that let's you mirror his trove. hope dies last.

DDR is more organised the google drive with links to every simfile known to man is still up, if you want the link i'll shoot you a message.

The Gitadora scene is like that too little bit chaotic. I was thinking about this last night as well.Specifically the gook companies tend to be very aggressive with takedowns for their rhythm games, so gating or splitting files is a security measure in my mind.

Especially now that they are pushing the home arcade scene which is still fucking gimped, i simply cannot be fucked reading a 10 page document to translate niponese to make a bemania account and pay to play.

I feel it's more the Japanese being super spooked about piracy/copyright. BMS and K-ShootMania were careful to word themselves not to specifically say they were a IIDX/SDVX emulator. I remember finding the Chunithm emulator Seaurchin near damn impossible to find after the original JP creator nuked it. Hell even a doujin rhythm music circle (Diverse System) had to stop making BEMANI "tribute" albums a long time ago because of Konmai C&D.

Speaking of piracy, another American DDR player got caught playing on a VPN'ed Korea machine. But he's not Chris so no one cares. Actually the Koreans are pissed, and ofc the Americans are making horrible arguments about muh accessibility, as if they're the only ones that have this problem.

re: diverse system - they got pretty close to konami now and supply artists for the games (and did a remixes album for the bemani music player). i wish that when the circle had their 20th anniversary, konami could let them to do something celebrating their origins as that group that made a lot of bemani remixes albums. but alas, it didn't happen.
also, americans keep being salty about not having the gold cabs.

Ive been out of the comp scene too long who gives a fuck about the scores, i mean you can emulate white cabs no worries now. Maybe i'm just not that competitive.

I really want to try IDX proper but i think i played an old version once years ago and wouldn't know where to start.

Even though a lot of private DDR white cab owners in the US get their cabs from Korea, I feel like this still wouldn't be as big of an issue if people were fine with sticking to playing on private servers on wherever the cabs were. Having private owned cabs and private servers is another thing, but VPNing said cabs to an official server that clearly breaks Konami's TOS is just absurd. Guess people never learned from Chris's case. I wouldn't be surprised if one day Konami entirely dropped support for the US due to constant shit like this.

Piu_koopah, the person who was exposed for using vpn, has does have access to a Round1 given their media history. At that point it's not an accessibility issue, but a personal "muh scores!" issue that just screams entitlement.

ECHOES does bring up a good point about arcades declining due to low income, resulting in selling arcade cabs. I don't think people in the US care especially since maybe only one Round1 closed historically. But people don't realize that rhythm games barely generate income compared to other entertainment like bowling and even crane games. Rhythm games is however revenue for maintaining loyal customers.
In Japan and Korea, arcades are closing here and there because the arcade scene itself is declining. But I guess US DDR players just see it as free real estate for scores so lol.

Sorry for the sperging, I'll close with a little fun fact: The KAC champion plaques in Chris' local Round1 were taken down according to a friend I knew who goes there.

The same "community" that calls for diversity/inclusivity and all that BS: How dare these Koreans whose English isn't even their native tongue not learn what we Americans talk about all the time in English on the Twitters.

I apologize for no archives since I'm on phone.

Ah yes, it's all about scoreposting. Like that was the main issue Koreans had.

Then comes the justification. As if having Gold cabs itself wasn't enough to satisfy attention seeking scoreposters like you.

these people are such faggots

Yes, DDR Extreme was almost entirely bootlegged across America, but the "illegal" DDR ended with Supernova, which was released 17 years ago. Supernova 2, X, and X2 got American releases, and then Konami skipped releasing X3, 2013, and 2014, and then everything A onwards has been released here. The days of awful DDR X cabinets are long gone.

Not to mention, we've always been better off than Europe, which never had DDR Extreme or Round 1 or any of that. "America has always been neglected by Konami!!!!" he shrieks, as Europeans who "weren't neglected" were saddled with Euromix 2, which had exactly half the songlist of Extreme.

Anyone played anything new lately? Got my gitaller been sucking arse at hold gitadora but its fun.

I tried Music Diver recently, but it really reeks of "we have maimai/wacca at home" NOW WITH DRUMSTICKS. I can see why it was DOA in Japan.

Also RGC starting to soapbox troons because of certain recent events.

Lmao, I knew that shitty community was full of woke retards, but Ranatalus really takes the cake. Like holy shit, tell me you crave tranny cock without telling me you crave tranny cock.

Has he been doxed? He comes off as a bona fide cow.

Given the low skill ceiling for maimai compared to literally any other RG out there that's surprising.

And what a surprise all the RG people are fucking tranny lovers. Sooner the troons become hated in social settings the better.

Have at it if you really feel like digging deeper, though just seems like typical woketard like a lot of western RG Twitter.

Probably considering maimai and Chunithm are the touch screen/panel arcade RGs in Japan and Sega (or whoever is their US distributor) just doesn't want to spend the time and money to properly export it outside of Asia so we get these failed clones in the states like WACCA (rip), Chrono Circle, Music Diver, Tetote instead.

I've never seen a Wacca machine ever or any of those other ones. Aus is shit for RG's although MaiMai is now the biggest fucking thing around, don't get me started on the maimai tards i'll need to put my tophat on for that.
Someone should make Snare Drum Hero where you learn military drum calls

I'm sure if you could get someone to chart it in Gitadora it would be done easily.
