jannies ruin everything
you reap what you sow

So is Groove Coaster WaiWaiParty almost all anime/vocaloid/VTuber stuff or is there some stuff from the previous games on there too? I got the switch version, and it's a bit jarring since i played the mobile version and i absolutely love the songs on that one. Only thing i know for sure that's on WaiWai that i like is Cranky's party4U Holy Nite Mix.

Or is this one of those situations where ALL the good stuff is exclusive DLC, forcing you to shell out more money?

DDR really went backwards with graphic design.
I loved the UI in the console games the most but this is dumpster fire. The character design also looks like shit, how the hell do you dance in that overdesigned getup??

Was A3 really that fucked? Never played it, so thats why I'm asking

Also I think a better answer would have been when Japan players reemed Konami a new asshole for removing the past songs from 5th Mix and DDRMAX so they added a bunch of them back in for DDRMAX2. But then again that was over 2 decades ago so.... yea.

DDRA (inc. A20/A20+/A3) are in a vacuum - fine. The issue is Konami being Konami.

DDRWorld looks like it has some good decisions in it - the UI, while not good, is much more in line with other Konami/Rhytmn games. The UX looks to be improving (at least as part of Preview 1)

- They're looking to have more scroll options (with Constant Sudden from A3)
- A note skin screen that actually shows you what the notes will look like
- Better speed modifications - with intervals of 0.05x instead of 0.25x or .5x and the game doing the BPM math for you.
- A landing screen that clearly separates One Player modes (Singles, Doubles) and Two Player Mode (Versus) which was a huge newbie trap.
- A series of newbie folders that actively prevent you from switching off of Beginner/Basic (another newbie trap)
- Advanced judgement options (fast/slow display, placing, etc) adjustable in game (previously only on a japanese only e-amusement website).

AKA most of the stuff they should have stolen from Stepmania/StepmaniaX/In the Groove like 10 years ago.

However - none of that matters because Konami has a really bad track record with actually dispersing new versions outside of Japan. Unless they have a really clear business plan in place with multiple vendors - DDRW is going to have the same problem as DDRA3, there's nowhere to fucking play it. There's no point in trying to attract new players if you aren't going to let them access the game. There are ~50 or so locations in the entire USA running A3, no reason to think that DDRW is going to get more adoption with most places running A/A20/A20+ looking to bail instead.

don't even talk about europe. outside something in uk, there aren't that many bemani games around the continent.

Some of the songs confirmed
That said, some of these song choices are pretty good. Wild Rush, Candy, and Red Zone are ones I'm fond of.

Not to be debbie downer but those songs have always been playable in every arcade version since their introduction (or at minimum EXTREME) and will probably never ever get removed because they're Konami originals.

Translation:
A new feature, Flare Skill, which is similar to VOLFORCE in SOUND VOLTEX, was introduced. Flare Skill points are awarded based off the songs/charts you play and your scores on them. The total Flare Skill is calculated by the top 30 songs per group:
- CLASSIC (DDR 1st - X3 VS 2ndMIX)
- WHITE (DDR (2013) - A)
- GOLD (DDR A20 - WORLD)

Ranks and subranks are awarded based off your total Flare Skill, named after planets in the solar system (except Pluto). This ranking system. Songs can be unlocked from reaching certain ranks. The six songs listed in the info page come from the 25th Anniversary Music Creator Audition.

A new Flare Gauge option, FLOATING FLARE, will be added (only available in GALAXY PLAY). Starting with FLARE EX, with every time the Flare Gauge is emptied in a stage, the next stage will have a lower Flare Level. This process can repeat all the way down to FLARE I. Flare Gauge depletion levels have also been adjusted to be easier at lower levels.

The six contest songs that will unlock based on Flare Rank:
極地大衝撃 / Kolaa
HyperNOAH / SK MUSIC
WONDER COASTER / MUGIPONG
Gravity Collapse / X-END
Roche Limit / Felysrator
Ødyssey / Kaname
