It was on mine.

The main draw of Arcade play is ranking/scores/etc and they've been adding more and more of it with each iteration. A20/A20+/A3 keep track of your scores, your rival's scores, your area's scores, the world's scores, your highest "rank" (unlocked by passing a specific ranking course), and your "league" score.

They've been trying to find a way to track ranking in a larger way so it's not surprising they've looked at their other titles to do it.

Is Z-I-V cucked or something?
ZIV is basically what DDRUK used to be... the site that everyone went to to get the official stepfiles (at the time called DWI files for "Dance With Intensity" before Stepmania and the SM file became the new norm). To this day they continue to update the DDR section with new SM files and even have obscure shit from DDR games no one (at least in the west) has even heard of or played (Oha Suta and Tokimeki for example). It's also the place where you can find an arcade around your area that has any music games. On that end it's a good site.

The forums.... are a different story. Like every other community it went to shit once the special snowflakes and freaks started to migrate to it. Word policing what can and can't be said, people freaking out over any contrary oppinion. I'm genuinely shocked the forums are stll active considering everyone has moved onto discord.

But apparently it has it's fair share of spammers and "trolls"

There's only one or two forums I know online that are about a specific topic that aren't shit up by politics or faggots, and that's far too few :(

Also for BEMANI Pro League. (Doesn't look like there'll be a BPL DDR S3 but wouldn't be surprised if it returns for S4.)

Sound Voltex and IIDX have player radars and Rating/Volforce. DDR's "dan" ranks don't really mean anything given you can get Kaiden by just arrow mashing the whole way and not failing out, and all "Golden League" score shows is who whales the most money at konmai to get to the gold cab exclusive content first. There is SkillAttack and LIFE4 but those aren't official and I don't think their formulas are a good determination of skill imo (and also not everyone uses it)

Higher flare levels/skills reward you for higher and consistent accuracy, so that's probably a better measure than just "the top 30 best scores you have" or "pass X level 15 songs and have Y level 12 PFCs"

Was A3 really that fucked? Never played it, so thats why I'm asking
A3 was soulless and full of mobile game-style events. There's not a lot to say about it.

Yeah, I don't care much for that interface, either. It's another one that looks like it was designed for a touchscreen, but DDR cabinets don't have touchscreens. The 5th Mix -> DDR X wheel was perfect. and the Cover Flow-style from X2 -> 2014 was fine. They should have at least designed it so that the jackets are smaller and can fit more in at once, because having so few songs on screen at once makes it a hassle to find what you want to play in a game that'll have over 1,000 songs.

I’ve been told that SD cabs are finally being sunset and that World and onward are going to require brand new hardware, kinda like the Lightning IIDX cabs. Kind of sucks since those White cabinets are ass (at least in my opinion; they sound awful and I’ve never been a fan of how they look). Haven’t checked in a long time but I’m sure an Omnimix for A3 is being worked on. That’s all people with home machines will need.

I agree with you 100% on the newer mixes. A3 looks just like a typical predatory mobile game, World doesn’t look much better. I miss that 2005-2010 era of Bemani where things were simple. Remember how good IIDX RED looked?

It was pretty forgettable. Extra Exclusive was pretty much abandoned once Konmai realized they could squeeze more money via Golden League, GP packs, and crossover events. Its only big non-crossover event got tainted by data leakers. Galaxy Play (3 credits to unlock all singles/doubles difficulties for an Extra Savior song instead of having to unlock them individually) was a nice compromise though, as well as the ability to switch between singles and doubles mid-credit.

A bit of ⏰but SD cabs were officially sunset at the end of April and got the kill switch unless you installed an offline kit. Makes sense because there is no way you can cram all of that World UI onto a CRT screen, and it was barely getting by handling A3's.

In other news, a member of a popular J-Pop band TUYU/ツユ was arrested a few days ago for attempting to murder his girlfriend (who is a teenager) (archive). In response, Konami has started to immediately purge all of the band's songs from BEMANI games this morning.

Yeah - sorry about the tardiness. I figured that was old news. I don’t waste too many cycles keeping up with this troon infested community much nowadays.

Oh, really? I've never seen an SD cabinet running anything beyond 2014, I figured A onwards didn't even have a 4:3 mode.

Oh, huh. Well. Hopefully those machines get resold to smaller arcades or private owners, and not just disposed of. I'm really surprised they were still in service.

Yeah, I'm not much of a fan of them, either. Nor the gold ones, for that matter. The screens are too low, and there's no place to put your stuff.

Red and Happy Sky were some of the best looking rhythm games ever made. I used to be a little annoyed that IIDX never really changed up its look, but now I'm grateful they've kept the same kind of song selection menu forever.

Just remove them, they're never used well. Megalovania wouldn't be a bad chart if it weren't covered in them.
Battle Against a True Hero and Pluto the First are way worse in that regard.
Well, Pluto the First has other problems than just shock arrows but yeah.

Did they ever fix all of the issues with the Gold cabs? I remember being told there was huge input delay. Like, play a song on an A cab, then play the exact same one on the Gold cab. The Gold cab was noticeably worse.

So this is looking like it'll be an upgrade kit only instead of it having it's own machine.
Not surprising. I don't know what a new cab would even look like anyways. I sure as hell wouldn't want it to be that shade of green, and making another white cab is pointless since they already have one.

I never felt the input delay between the two.
