New voice is an improvement. There's less burps and stuttering which Roiland thought were hilarious but were mostly just annoying.

Are people allowed to enjoy anything these days? I just got back from the Cyberpunk thread after getting shit on and downvoted for saying I'm enjoying the DLC.

In my opinion, it's why serious creators really shouldn't accept corpo money anymore, not unless they retain sole ownership and creative rights of the IP. Given how people can go big on their own these days, I see the third-party corporation model as outdated and somewhat parasitic.
Either way, I would rather stay independent and only make a little bit of money but keep all of the rights than "make it big" by selling my ideas to another company, and have my "work" not belong to me in every meaningful way. I guess if you only see the IP as a way to make money and aren't attached to them, fine, I guess, but selling ideas you actually like is a good way to get your heart broken. That or roll in your grave after death (Hi Stephen Hillenburg!)

Here’s the thing about Roiland. I have no idea if the guy did anything illegal or not, he certainly hasn’t been convicted of anything. However, the guy was a walking fucking liability. Between the alcohol and drug problems, sex parties, and going on Tinder (or whatever app it was) saying “Yep, it’s really me, they guy from Rick & Morty!”, it was only a matter of time before the shit hit the fan.
Beyond that, no one liked working with this guy and with good reason. He stopped showing up in the writer’s room during season 3 and hasn’t been seen at all the last few years (he records the voices from his house). He was more concerned with inviting celebrity fans over than he was with actual work. And before you think he was busy with other projects, he was doing the same thing with his other 2 shows.
Seems like AS and others were just happy to have an excuse to get rid of him. I’m guessing he’s still going to make some kind of money from the old episodes, but I don’t know how all that works.

I agree. Love him or hate him, guilty or innocent, the show was so undeniable his voice (both creatively and 90% of the characters) they cannot be separated. Looking at all his past stuff just makes it so much more obvious. If what @PotatoSalad4711 said above about him basically ditching the show to party is true then it just puts a finer point on it since that is when the quality tanked.
The show's sycophants will never abandon it because they are retarded, but we've already seen a huge drop-off in casual viewers in the past few seasons which will probably only increase in this season. Slightly wrong sounding main characters is probably going to subtly put people off more than they think at first as well.

According to everyone Justin worked with he was a pain in the ass to deal wtih. So this was just a lucky coincidence and they used the controversy to fire him.
