Rick and Morty

For a second there, I thought we'd end up with their memories switched cause Summer fucked up, but ah well.

I wasn't feeling the front end of this episode. It felt like they were just making dark scenes for the hell of it, not funny dark but just dark. But once Morty finds out about Rick's fuck-ups, especially the minor ones like the ski trip, it really found it's stride. I can't help but wonder how much having his memories of Rick's even minor mistakes has taken it's toll on Morty's self-esteem, as well as how often Rick fucks up compared to our normal image of him.

Also, another universe jump. Wonder what happened to this universes R&M.

Wasn't as great as other episodes in the season, but it was still excellent nonetheless. Didn't feel as connected to the plot that's been going on so far throughout the season, but after the last episode revolving around the Citadel, it would make sense to take a break from it.

Summer has consistently been the most competent member of the family.

Anyway, I would have preferred another Inter-dimensional Cable with a decent B story, like Inter-dimensional Cable II. This was okay though.

Looking back on the episode... I dunno. I can't help but feel they're continuing what I feel they've been doing this season. It's like, after two seasons of fun adventures with these characters now the show is focusing on them as people more. This episode was like the show was saying "no, you wouldn't want to go on adventures with Rick. Look at all the memories Morty would rather forget and how they would lead any other person to suicide. Or how Rick can't handles times when he's the one who comes off as the idiot. Still think it would be fun?" And it really highlighted something else from this season. We don't see every adventure they go on, just like how we never saw the Atlantis adventure last week, the first Vindicators, or most of that Star Wars ripoff they did before going to the spa that had them breaking down.

It kinda feels like this season is trying to rip away sense of escapism to be found in it. But at the same time, I do love how it's exploring the dynamics of these characters. Pretty psyched for next week's episode and how it's set to explore Beth's upbringing from Rick.

Edit since I don't want to doublepost: Last week Creepy Morty wanted incest porn to be more accepted, this week we see Morty using one of Rick's machines to summon redheads. Morty's real object of desire is Summer, isn't it?

I loved the "taken for granite" scene:

I mean, I think everyone has had the experience of saying/catching someone say a phrase wrong, and it makes Rick and Morty's relationship feel more real and grounded. Also, I love how Morty's mind blowers are either "horribly traumatic experience" or "that time Morty got one over on Rick."

The latest episode could've been great if it explored the connection between memories and personality a bit more instead of just stringing different scenes of Rick being a jerk.

I just got around to watching the new episode. It was great, but it was a lot better than interdimensional cable. There were some good laughs, but it just felt lacking.

There is only one good character on this show, and you'll never guess who.

It's either this summer

Or you're playing 4D chess and also counting the comic as part of the show, in which case I say Doofus Jerry.

Fuck Summer was annoying tonight. Kinda interesting development with Beth though, though it felt super forced.
