Rick and Morty

My favorite detail about the sauce was how it's foreshadowing it wasn't Rick's backstory they were in. Rick goes to 1998 and Beth is a little girl which makes no sense.

Summer is officially listed as 17 years old, and through the show's references to recent pop culture it happens sometime around now. So assuming it's 2017 in the show's world Summer would be born two years after Rick's supposed origin story. Could be even less if considering the previous episode aired in 2015. We know it's at least 2013 due to references to The Purge. Lawnmower Dog aired in 2013 as well, and references Morty's obsession with 2010's Inception.

We also know Jerry knocked Beth up in High School. So unless Jerry is a pedophile and Beth skipped a number of grades... Yeah, it was all about the sauce. It's kinda funny how the Federation wouldn't catch something so obvious.

I'd rather they stop with the constant callbacks actually, Mr. Meeseeks was a great idea that was explored, in my opinion, fully in its own episode and is best left as is.
Like Rick said...

The TV shows in IDC II generally were not funny, as a matter of fact, were it not for the B plot of Jerry and his penis donation I'd go so far as to say that it was the worst episode of season 2. Exhibit A for why they shouldn't go back to the same material too often.
IDC II was inferior to the first one, but I still think it had some good segments. I liked the Jan Quadrant Vincent one, for example. I just hope every season doesn't have one. It could be a good gimmick to fall back on from time to time (like Family Guy's "road to" episodes) but they shouldn't run the concept into the ground by wasting an episode slot on it every season.

I really loved the new episode. It really played up the fact that we have no fucking idea what Rick's deal is; he's obviously a broken man, but it's never clear whether that brokenness makes him a narcissistic sociopath using his family's love to his advantage or if he does genuinely care but can't emote after too much time as an interdimensional war criminal.

But we do know he loves the Szechuan Mulan sauce.

I think they realized that doing something because fans demand it doesn't pay off--the whole "I don't know, we seemed to nail it last time" line kinda gave me that vibe--so I doubt we'll get one this season.

i wasnt much of a fan of the second one myself either, but the Octopus-man one was pretty funny.

THIS WAS A GOOD EPISODE AND I THOUGHT IT WAS FUNNY.
