Well it's interesting to me to see that he really does have a decent grasp on what kind of transactions he's completing with his customers over the last month, he's trading his (almost completely otherwise encumbered) time for funds. Now the problem for me is that at these rates and combined with the obvious lack of care, skill and attention to detail spent doing these commissions, he's overcompensating himself away from what I would consider a reasonable rate for his time by cutting out major portions of it that should be being spent rightfully working on these pieces in order to make boring kart racing heat summary uploads into the internet.

I still won't be jumping at the opportunity to fund his shitty video driving and other wastes of time due to that fact alone.

His time is worth what people will pay for it. When you operate your own business (a slight exaggeration of what Chris is doing, but nonetheless) you don't set your prices on what it is "fair" that you receive. You sell for what maximizes your profit for the least effort.

Also if you have a job or you are self employed, you don't usually spend all of your waking hours on it. You work for a while, and then unwind with something you like doing. For Chris that is vidya. If you catch him doing something besides commissions, it doesn't mean he is somehow cheating his customers.

Chris is selling shitty art for $50 and autographed photos for $20. He never promised anything different, and he seems to have pretty much delivered. If you don't want those things, or don't want them at those prices, don't buy them. I didn't buy them. But aside from a little copyright infringement, I don't see anything wrong with what he is doing. And if you do, I think you really need to think carefully, and realize you are demanding that Chris work all of his waking hours at a wage set by you. And saying he is doing something wrong if he doesn't.

I do see the point that Chris is mixing up business and charity, or at least trying to conflate them in a bizarre marketing strategy. But that is because he is silly. We shouldn't make the same mistake.

Chirs, I know how you can spend your time and get the funds you so desperately need in return.

Get a job.

How unusually nice of hi-

"Now that I've shown myself to be a good person, you can pay me. This is what happens to good people, right?"

Chris is never nice unless it either strokes his ego or gets him something that he wants.

When I first read it, it sounded to me like he was hinting through his sob story that the people who made the fan pieces for him ought to make them and send them to him again. I wonder if anyone will.

First Son-Chu, now the Asperchu medallion is lost to us. :(

That reminds me, I need to download all of :asperchu: for my cruise. You don't have internet there, and having the whole comic to read during quiet time was awesome.

The bizarre grammar is oddly at a minimum this time around.

It's true, it is remarkably well-written for Chris. Grammar and spelling are more than acceptable. A couple more capitalizations than I would have done, but they are somewhat defensible. He also goes out of his way not to blame the person who sent the gift for his wistful reaction. And goes out of his way to thank people who did nice things for him in the distant past. He expresses much more complex emotions than we usually see from Chris, and does it in a way that is easily understood and sympathized with by the reader.

Even his plea for money, which turned a lot of people off, was coherent. It wasn't too whiny or demanding, he just said he wanted money, said why, and said what was on sale.

To be honest I have trouble believing he wrote it. It almost seems to me like he had to have asked someone to write it for him. The one thing that makes me hesitate about this a little is that "to the up to three people" has a strong CWC-ian ring to it, so maybe it was just edited? If it was an entirely solo effort, my hat is off to him.

Does he think that the person who made the Asperchu medallion wasn't trolling him? Is his memory seriously that bad?

He probably doesn't even remember my name.

People pick over Chris' writing and suspect ghostwriting constantly and it's really annoying. Chris writes as well as you guys if he wants to. Unless you have a good reason other than "it's too good" to suspect a ghostwriter, please don't bring it up.

The way Chris forgets people reminds me of a quote from one of the Peter Pan books. Someone asks him about his old nemesis Captain Hook, and Peter has no idea who that is.

He just says "I forget them after I kill them".

I think it's probably very similar in the mind of another Boy Who Never Grew Up.

Yeah, he only goes ALL CAPS or Every Word Capitalized when he's trying to make some emphatic weight on a subject. I think it's the written version of his ultra-fake cartoonish eyebrows and smiling he does when he's trying to put emotions on his face.

"I don't know who y'all are but y'all know who you are"
Translation; "I give a shit enough to bring this up as a sympathy plea for more lego money but not enough to check that DANG CWCKI to find out their names"

So yeah he doesn't remember you cos right now he can't use you as an excuse for his suffering.
And he types 'y'all'.....that really bugs me, I'm scottish but ah dunnae type in mah accent, it doesnae work that wey.

honestly i think this little side business is healthy for chris. he's making money, he's interacting with non-barb people, he's being forced to keep a (light) schedule and set goals/timeframes. plus, i think creating art has some inherent therapeutic value and chris is probably enjoying himself while doing so. it's better than wandering charlottesville stewing in misery or bitching at nobodies from high school.

plus, those with extra cash get to own a little chris-chan memento. those broke niggas a-loggin get something to complain about. everyone wins.
