Most know Geddy Lee more than Neil, but Rush fans know who the soul of the band really was.

Rest in Peace to a legendary canuck. :drink:

Peart was a madman on the skins. An all time favorite and truly a master of the percussive arts.

Kriger must be very sad.

The man was a gem, and has been through quite a bit of fucking shit in his life. No man should have that dexterity or coordination.

Genetic blends
With uncertain ends
On a fortune hunt that's far too fleet

67 years was not long enough for the world to have him. RIP, Neil.

Fucking hell. Pour one out for Peart.

Grew up listening to their music, this song particularly, this news is a huge blow. Especially for the Canadian music industry.

He also was the band's chief lyricist, odds are he wrote any lines you might remember. I always liked the ending of The Trees:
So the maples formed a union, and demanded equal rights
"The oaks are just too greedy, we will make them give us light"
Now there's no more oak oppression, for they passed a noble law,
And the trees are all kept equal, by hatchet, axe, and saw.

He's the one who wrote Limelight, a song about being an introvert that has been cast into the public eye and the uncomfortable feelings that come with it. That song made me really feel for him because that song made it clear that he wasn't the kind of person who fit in with the typical rockstar lifestyle, and yet he still went out onstage and performed his heart out and he still made great music despite his difficulty adjusting to fame while wanting his own privacy

Imagine having all that talent and wasting it playing the same lame, repetitive prog rock lite shit for 3+ decades. Even Phil Collins' solo career was more adventurous.

His body may be dead, but the spirit of his drum-specific autism lives on. RIP you absolute legend.

It's also a pretty masterful bit of shit talking. He's basically saying that anyone who wants to be famous is a low-T beta cuck who only wants to seem like a great musician, because fame is often a distraction or impediment to people who actually want to be great musicians:
Rush - Limelight said:
Living in the limelight
The universal dream
For those who wish to seem
Those who wish to be
Must put aside the alienation
Get on with the fascination
The real relation
The underlying theme
This is particularly hilarious because of how popular the song ultimately became. Neil Peart wrote an incredibly famous song telling everyone who wants to be famous that they're huge faggots who need to git gud. What a fucking Chad.

They were really something else, and Peart even more

Rip professor, The first time I blasted Moving Pictures was one of my best musical experience I've ever had
