Treat Williams, an actor who starred in well-known 80s films like Prince of the City and Dead Heat, was killed in a motorcycle accident today at the age of 71.

I liked this dude. He seemed like a down to Earth character actor and in every movie he was in he made it fun to watch even Dead Heat (Joe Piscopo ruined that one more than anything) or the straight to video sequels to The Substitute.

He was a journeyman actor who just constantly showed up in shit, most of which you probably never saw. But you probably did see him as "Critical Bill" in Things to Do in Denver When You're Dead.

Cormac McCarthy, arguably one of America's greatest living writers... is now just one of its greatest writers. He was 89.

This one hurts me personally (:_(
It makes one wonder how long Thomas Pynchon and Don DeLillo have left on Earth. Some say that there's a pipeline when one reads Cormac, those two just happen to come next.

No Country For Old Men was a great example of an adaptation done right.

I just heard about it. Goddamnit. He was old as time but it still sucks. I picked up "The Passenger" last month, this will be a bittersweet read. Apart from Ellis and Steinbeck there is no other author that impressed me as much as McCarthy did (i still haven't touched the russian classics, though).

His author photo on Wikipedia is also baller as fuck

I can't think of another book adaption that comes anywhere close to No Country.

It only took a month, but I'm finally crying over the loss of Mum's little dog, Jinidi (pronounced yin-dee). He was smiling right to the end. I'll miss you, little guy.

We had him cremated, and we're going to spread his ashes in the garden, and on the beach, which he never got to experience.
