RIP Thread

Another classic actor down.

Louis Gossett Jr., 1st Black man to win supporting actor Oscar, dies at 87

His role in the film “An Officer and a Gentlemen” was really good, and he helped pave the way for the likes of Mahershala Ali, Cuba Gooding, Jr. and (to an extent) Denzel Washington to get Oscars for the Best Supporting Actor role.

The downside, though, is that in the same article:
Gossett struggled with alcohol and cocaine addiction for years after his Oscar win. He went to rehab, where he was diagnosed with toxic mold syndrome, which he attributed to his house in Malibu.

In 2010, Gossett announced he had prostate cancer, which he said was caught in the early stages. In 2020, he was hospitalized with COVID-19.

If only he laid off the alcohol and cocaine.
😔

Indeed, we could said the same about a bunch of other actors. 😔

Would be a nice bit of schadenfreude if Prince Charles were to keel over barely a year after the Queen, after waiting for 70+ years to get the throne in the first place. Admittedly I don't really give too many fucks about the royals, being a filthy rebel colonial, and all that. But the Queen always seemed like she was dedicated to her country and people at least, while Charles seemed like he couldn't be arsed one way or the other.

And possibly a sign of things to come, the ever-present "sources say" are quoting that Prince Charles has Pancreatic Cancer and is getting funeral plans arranged. Even in the best of times the outlook for that one isn't very good but hopefully he's comfortable for whatever time he has left.

Charles is a fucking globalist WEF stooge. But i wouldn't wish cancer, especially pancreatic cancer, on my worst enemies.
I've seen more than a few people die from this cancer and I'd absolutely wish it on my worst enemies. It's damn unfortunate when cool folks get it (Paul Harrell) but those like King Fuckface deserve it. Still, he has the resources that he won't die writhing the way so many others do.

IDK, Steve Jobs had more money than God, and he still looked horrible in the last photos of him right before the end. Even unlimited resources and wealth can't prevent the inevitable. To paraphrase the chess quote "At the end of the game, the king and the pawn go into the same box." While I think he's pretty much a drain on society, or at least has contributed little, if nothing for the vast amount of resources that The Crown™©️®️ controls, I don't think he deserves to needlessly suffer for it. To me that's specifically reserved for truly evil people like murderers, child abusers, and others that have truly been evil.

I wouldn't for its own sake but if I could pick Boogie getting it or some actual human, Boogie's getting it.
If only he laid off the alcohol and cocaine.
He had a pretty good run for someone with all that shit happening.

Steve Jobs might have lived longer if he hadn't been rich and surrounded by yes-men. He had neuroendocrine islet tumors in his pancreas, which is actually treatable and not a death sentence. Any other pancreatic cancer patient would have traded with him in a heartbeat. Being an innovative genius wunderkind, Jobs elected to goof around with hippie woo until it was too late.

Money can't stop death, but that particular death was incredibly evitable.

It's one thing to buck tradition where you're choosing an idiosyncratic design choice. Being idiosyncratic about pancreatic cancer will get you idiosyncratically dead, and nobody will think you were a genius for that shit.

Thats besides the point, but yes, I agree. His hubris and arrogance ended up costing him his life. Pancreatic Cancer is one of the worst outcome types, and he figuratively "won the lottery" in the fact that the type he had was more easily treatable. But he "knew better" than the experts, and we see where that got him. If anything, that just shows that money doesn't impart wisdom.

Actor Chance Perdomo known for staring in the Netflix Sabrina show died at the age of 27 in a motorcycle accident.

Miami Dolphins Football player Vontae Davis died at the age of 35.

Lou Conter, the last survivor of the Pearl Harbor attack died at the age of 102.

Comics artist and YouTuber Cartoonist Kayfabe (Ed Piskor) is rumored to have committed suicide after accusations of him being a sex pest.
I'm actually very sad about this one, I don't want to deep-dive the allegations or read his suicide note because it will just bum me out too much but it sounds like some #MeToo shit got flung his way and spiraled too fast. I enjoyed his videos because he focused on comics from an artist's perspective and had a lot of insight.
