IIRC, Jellybean did a lot of work with Jam & Lewis on their productions. Jam & Lewis also being a part of the Time. Until Prince fired them. But they've come back for several reunions.

Gentildonna, Japanese race horse and Triple Tiara winner, died yesterday at the age of 16. No official cause of death, but she’s been very sick this year, and her symptoms grew so bad that yesterday she couldn’t even stand. It’s said that her abilities came from an x-factor, a larger-than-average heart like the one Secretariat had (he died at 19), so that may have had an effect on her condition.

Horse racing is animal abuse. Most horses live 25-30 years, some even longer. Yet all these race horses seem to die really young.

It isn't worth killing horses just for entertainment.

I think it's on borrowed time as it is. I don't think I've ever met anyone outside the industry who just loved horse racing just for the sport itself. I'm sure there's a few, but the draw is always 'gambling' or 'party' (at the big events), and you can gamble now on sports that are far more watchable on their own merits and where they put in more effort to try not to kill anyone or thing.

RIP my former neighbor Mrs. Mary...

And RIP my uncle Pastor. He was 95 years old and his funeral was today.

This is an unusual take given that you usually have some pretty poignant remarks. I'd be curious about the reasoning behind it.

(Note: I'm not a horse expert, nor do I follow horse racing and am happy to be wrong about anything written below.)

Quick research indicates that racehorses live as long as normal domestic horses, which is the aforementioned 25 - 30 years.

Of course, Seabiscuit only lived to be 13 years old.

But, Secretariat lived to 19, War Admiral to 25, and Man o' War to 30 years old. Fair Play (who sired Man o' War) lived to 25.

(I believe the Gentildonna had an enlarged heart, unless I read that wrong.)

Genetics has a strong impact on a horse's lifespan and most horses either run around all the time or are bred to work (eg - draft horses, which tend to have slightly shorter lifespans).

I don't know much about the training regimen, but I would guess that if you spend $500,000 on some horse cum, along with a ton of other costs associated with raising and training a horse in order to create a champion, you probably won't beat the shit out of it everyday.

Conversely, wild horses tend to live five to ten years less due to a similar cadre of factors, like harsh environments, predators, food sparsity, etc.

Just my 2¢.

RIP to my aunt. She'd basically been confined to her bed for the last couple years of her life because of how utterly frail she was, so in a way this was a mercy. My poor uncle though.

Rest in peace Robert A. M. Stern (age 86). Although both an architect of both modern and classical architecture, his latter works make the world and its cities much more tolerable and beautiful to look at. (AP Article)

Having seen this more than a few times, I wouldn't call it my favorite architecture but it's definitely one of the definitive modern-classical college buildings.
