I only know of the jesus nut. What are the others?
lol "jesus nut" ... I like that.

Others include: Engine failure. Tail rotor failure. Control hydraulics/electrics failure. Imbalanced load (the smaller the bird, the easier this is for passengers to do mid-flight). Rotor damage (usually via flight into power lines or other hard-to-see but tough-as-nails material). Pilot error (discussed in an earlier post describing leaning forward too hard, leading to the rotor cutting something important, etc.).

The biggest issue with helicopters is the moment any single-point-of-failure pain point actually fails, the fucking things just drop out of the sky like rocks. Airplanes at least have aerodynamics allowing them to coast a significant distance if they're at high altitude when they experience a failure. A pilot operating a malfunctioning aircraft can sometimes have 10+ minutes of "steady, albeit aggressive, controlled descent" flight time to troubleshoot a problem and/or prepare for the rough landing. That's a long time to figure out how to restart an engine, put out a fire, restore a busted control surface, start a backup system, reorient one's self (if lost), regain control, or at worst, select the "best" place to try to land and point the ailing craft towards it.

On a helicopter, if a malfunction occurs and it's a single point-of-failure element, you drop like a rock (or spin out of control with no hope of recovery). They're "neat" machines, in that it's neat they work at all, but they're risky as fuck.

Here's a few more
Randy Rhodes
All of Lynyrd Skynyrd
Stevie Ray Vaughn
edit: I realize in retrospect Randy Rhodes and Skynyrd were plane crash deaths, not helicopter related.

Andy Lewis, stunt perforner and extreme athlete, died at the age of 39 after being in a base jumping accident.

Beatrice Lumpkin, activist, union organizer, academic, and writer, died at the age of 107.
107 is quite a feat.
However I'm pretty certain if she actually lived under the communism she loved so much she would not have come close to such an age.

Tail rotor failure.
Tye official term is Loss of Tail Rotor Effectivene (LTE). If that sounds inte to you, then you can check out the FAA's 27-page PDF on Helicopter Emergencies and Hazards:

Which includes interesting illustrations like the following one within the LTE section:

FUCK THIS WORLD!

This one hits way too hard.

Goddamn.

Also: Actor William Smithers has passed away at the age of 99. He was in tons of things, but I remember him best from two roles. First, as oil baron Jeremy Wendell, arguably J.R. Ewing's most formidable opponent on "Dallas," and second as Captain Merik on Star Trek. He was the captain gone bad who doomed his crew to the gladiatorial games in the episode "Bread and Circuses".

I used to watch him when he was popular on Vine, but I saw this on Twitter, but couldn't understand because brazillian spic language but I thought it was a promotion for one of his new music videos or something. Man, celebrities and helicopters don't mix.
If I told you Oliver Tree crashed two helicopters together mid air for a music video would you believe me? It just seems like the most Oliver Tree way to go.
Hey Oliver, should I try riding a helicopter in brazil?

I remember watching the Holy Mountain right before seeing this get dropped and it just freaked me out to consume a super niche piece of media right before it gets dropped in an avant garde MV. That was like the third time it happened too.

"The actress' boyfriend, Roy Hernandez, tells TMZ ... Daveigh died Tuesday from meningitis and an infection in her blood, which caused her to have septic issues and led to her body shutting down."

Sepsis has really been on an upswing it seems lately. Got that Nascar guy recently too and a few others. I've known some people with close calls with it. Absolutely an ER immediate emergency of the worst type.
