Like using Aslan as a fictional land when it's just the name of its king (fuck's sake, I never read Narnia and I knew that). Or using Mordor, the literal place of evil in Middle-Earth, as a place "these people believe in." And I'm pretty sure nobody "believes" in Tatooine when Star Wars establishes it as a barren rock that Luke wants to get off of. Plus I don't think anyone would ever want to be in a place like Westeros.

Tatooine IS a real place. In fact I used to work with a guy from there. It’s a village in Tunisia. One of their most famous tourist locations, because it contains Luke Skywalkers House. It’s the actual place closest to where the “Tatooine” scenes of Ep IV and VI were filmed.

You would think a “famed pop culture critic” might know something like this?
