That's bullshit these days. I want studios to give the directors creative freedom to take risks with their projects, even if they fail or not. This is why I despite Disney's purchase of Fox. They're going to take away the freedom that directors have if they want to work with Fox and or Fox Searchlight.

You want people to have complete creative freedom while using tens to hundreds of millions of other people’s money? I understand, I do, but not everything can go exactly as someone wants. Directors usually have to compromise somewhere, they always have.

I don’t want the studios to have comeplete control over a director’s project. They should make sure that the director isn’t going to the extreme and acting nutty on his project.

I’ll guarantee you, when Marvel Studios gets X-Men back, Kevin Feige will shut down any idea from any director that would make it fresh and original. Look at Edgar Wright and Ant-Man.

What job is Bob doing that didn’t exist on public access cable for decades before the internet?

I’m not too sure. I would love to agree with you and say Logan could have never happened under Disney, but look at Daredevil. I’m not happy with a lot of Disney’s treatment of Marvel, but they’ve done right in places. Really we can never know for sure how it will go until it happens. Don’t forget they have to play buddy buddy with the fans of the X-men movies from Fox. They start changing things and it could backfire bigtime

I honestly think that the Disney X-Men movies would almost be the same movies as the Avengers flicks and would play it safe unlike Logan and the more recent X-Men movies like Deadpool and Days of Future Past.

If Kevin Feige laid off from Ryan Cooglier and let him make the film he wanted to make with Black Panther, I think it would have been a better movie than the one we got.

And somehow Dobson got banned from Twitter first...
Can you explain to me who Dobson is? I heard his name before but he sounds like a bigger cunt than Bob. Is he a huge MCU fanboy like Bob?

Dobson's a failed cartoonist who ranted endlessly about pop culture and politics on Twitter. He also had fetishes for lesbians and inflation, and claimed he had PTSD from getting water sprayed in his face at a convention.

This whole hitching up his bootstraps in the face of adversity thing has completely triggered my autism, so all apologies for the sperging.

He graduated high school in, what - 1998? The last legs of the biggest economic boom the country has seen in 50-70 years, and the state of Massacusetts has seen in probably longer than that. And Bob powered through the obstacles that dire situation placed in his path to become the paragon of success we see today? And those Kansans and Appalachian hill folk should use him as an example.

Fuck off, Bob.

I'd love to see maybe someone on /pol/ come up with some kind of vid/cartoon or something, declaring Mario their new mascot. Maybe some kind of low-tier propaganda that says Mario's secretly the Alt-Rightest of the Alt-Right, he believes in the ethnostate, believes that Richard Spencer's the second coming of Jesus, shit like that. And watch Bob's head explode Scanner's style.

Mario probably would've voted Trump given he pretty much a part of the demographic that would be abandoned by the Dems for 2016. He's a very traditional fella given his knightly adventures to save his squeeze Peach too, so very good GOP voter material.

And since Blorb does read this thread on some level, he can have fun with the image of Mario wearing a MAGA hat.

That’s ironic since Bob isn’t that relevant himself.
In many ways, Bob is probably an extremely obsolete person:

1) Health: No explanation necessary, Diabetes will likely limit his lifespan by some years.

2) Job Security: IMO, the job security of a cultural critic may be at it's lowest ever, people have pretty much reduced their work into an almost-binary Tomatometer, plus you have the current culture wars undermining a lot of their credibility to the consumer, not to mention the mountain of undergrad interns who will immediately take their place at any for pennies on the dollar. At least people like Matt Seitz or Alan Sepinwall (as douche-y as they can be) are tethered to a big website and have some following of their own, but Bob can't claim to have either, his opportunity to do so was probably gone when The Escapist laid him off.

3) Age factor: Bob didn't manage to procreate, and he probably has minimal savings, so you can bet your ass he's very fucked when he hits his 60s.

I can go on and on, but then I would be veering into A-Log territory. I honestly don't get how he would speak about anyone else with such derision and false-superiority, even if we cede the moral ground to him, he's still considered obsolete from a purely logical and evolutionary stand-point.
