Bob and his ilk will always drag reasonable people down to their level of stupidity and beat them with experience. Case in point, my growing disdain for the MCU is in reaction to one person's hate-boner for the DCEU. The dude tried to argue that the character of Chief from Wonder Woman was racist because of his fee-fees and claimed that Native Americans boycotted it. He provided no evidence that was not anecdotal ("all the natives I talk to hated it." How very convenient for him.) And rejected any evidence to the contrary. Said hater also claimed that Steppenwolf killed seventy-five percent of the Amazons in Justice League. I provided the screenshots of the Amazon reinforcements that proved him wrong and that shut him up.

TL;DR. It's okay. Bob has that effect on people.
Bob is one of those SJW's who probably doesn't have a lot or any friends who aren't white so all the "native Americans" he talked to are probably the guy who makes his coffee at some Starbucks who claims to be 1/8th native American so he can bitch about all the crimes of the white man while being as white s Bob.

In one of the first few comics, her and her Antifa-like goon squad create an unsanctioned prison camp and literally kidnap people off the streets without due process, without them having committed an actual crime and keep them where their families can't even communicate with them.

There is no explanation for how this is justified nor is there any judicial process. She just grabs these folks (see: white males) off the street based on flimsy Minority Report like projections.

And the writing is so bad that the real Captain Marvel actually visits the prison and is completely fine with it.
Carol Danvers was overall (There where comics that were apologist crap for her and her side) a freaking facist during Civil 2 and want you just mentiooned? The whole thing was her idea, Bendis fucked her up so bad than Tony Stark looked reasonable next to her. Yeah mister "les's use the Negative Zone as a prison along with a huge amount of oter atrocites" back in Civil War 1 was the voice of reason

If you want a version that's bearable, here is CW2 abridged.

It has President Strawman - the best damn president this country ever saw.

I feel like a lot of the negativity surrounding Venom stems from the “evil doppelgänger” archetype he embodies coupled with the fact that he was born out of the MacFarlane era of Spider-Man since comic spergs like to act like everything MacFarlane ever touched turned to dirt.

Has Bob given any of his autistic takes on MacFarlane, Image, Spawn etc. because that could probably be used as a measure for how much more we could expect him to bitch about this.
That may be so, but I feel like they've done a lot more with Venom since Bob's narrow '90s-tinted view of the character (let's be honest, Bob considers him a '90s character and that's why he hates him). Especially with the Ultimate comics, which Bob hates for modernising his precious children's stories, Venom is more of a metaphor for drug/spousal abuse.

He's talked about Spawn on his Big Picture show years back, weird how he's such an asshole about a black superhero.

I rather like the look of the Venom movie. Venom as "lethal protector" always had some interest to me--not an anti-hero, really, since this was still a guy who would unabashedly murder people and (depending on the writer) eat them, but operating by his own twisted code and deeply devoted to his "other." I doubt it'll live up to the potential of the character, but I'd be willing to forgive a lot to see a properly monstrous Venom onscreen, more teeth than the Osmond family and all.

Also, bad news for Bob. Since the trailer dropped, Tumblr fangirls seem to have added Venom to the list of "monsters I'd like to fuck," alongside the "Shape of Water" fish guy and the new "Lost in Space" robot. It seems like "traditionally masculine traits like strength and protectiveness, but with monsters" is becoming a winning formula for the female demographic. And considering that Bob is both an asshole beta male and a hideous blob, he loses as either a man or a monster.

What did he even mean by this? He's so up his ass it's hard to decipher.

I guess he's calling Islam a feminist religion? Yeah, see how that female genital mutilation works out.

Ah, the classic ignoring a character's flaws because "but I can change him!" Tumblr really are the worst misogynists.

There was a guy - like one of THE biggest Spider-man fans out there. How big a fan? He wrote a possible patch over a retcon plot hole in a story that Marvel actually made canon. (yes, he is superior to Bob in that a company actually listened to one of his suggestions)

I want to quote just a couple of passages from his Venom essay which goes over a lot of that 90s cheese.
It is true, I have stated many times in many columns that I have never really cared for Venom for various reasons - including what I believed were less than compelling motivations of the primary human host, Eddie Brock. Even those who love the character will willingly admit that he was overused and nearly ruined.
. . .
Believe it or not, as I've researched and written the Venom series to this point, I grew to understand the popularity of the character, and actually to kinda like Eddie Brock. For one, just like the other villainous heavyweights such as Norman Osborn and Doctor Octopus, Brock had a distinctive voice, with his sardonic humor and casual expressions. As only one example among many, in Amazing Spider-Man #375 as he's tangling with Spider-Man, Eddie spots his ex-wife and says "Hi Babe! Ya look great!" Plus, whenever the moment called for it - he could be quite articulate and erudite - which you would expect out of a professional journalist - and it would be amusing to see the massive Venom actually become ponderous and contemplative. Like the other two A-List Spidey supervillains, when he spoke, the dialogue was truly indigenous to Brock and/or Venom. He was also a lot closer to being a "working class" villain than either of those other two. Although Brock was a journalist and the son of a wealthy man, there was an "edge" to him, a sense that he had been to the school of hard knocks a time or two, occassionally getting slammed flat on his ass, but always coming back up ready for more.

The whole thing might be of interest to those who enjoy nerd history and ruminations. I just like to point out the differences between Bob - who can never let it go - with a mature fan who can look deeper into something, and find new respect leading to a change of his mind.

is becoming a winning formula for the female demographic.

"Is becoming"? Man I'm not even that old and I know that's been a winning formula for girls since... probably as far back as we have stories.

I remember Venom doing that! I read an old Carnage comic where Venom referenced Stranger in the Night, never knew that was a big trait of his.

Beauty & the Beast is a prime example, for all the shit fits people make about stockholm syndrome the facts are that the story's fanbase is majority female.

You guys know that Occupy Democrats Facebook page? Why do I get the feeling Occupy Democrats and Bob are similar?

Oh wow, SKB? It's been literal years since I heard of him! What plothole fix did he canonize?

You'll never get the Silver Age purists on board with Venom, which is why they love Spider-Man 3's blatant Venom-In-Name-Only: he was altered to fit their sensibilities (completely evil with no redeeming qualities or shades of grey to him). So they're basically REEEEEEEEEEEEEing that he's more comic-accurate.
I rather doubt Bob's a silver age purist; I see him as little more than that autistic child who rocked and flapped whenever the 1980s (and rare '60s depending on slot) marvel cartoons kicked on his TV. I don't think he would be able to list shit like Jameson getting and wasting time and money on Dr. Smythe to build killer robots out of his Spiderman hateboner, Pete realizing with horror how outclassed he was fighting the Hulk the first time ever, or Pete throwing sand in the air to pretend he's fighting the Sandman for the Bugle after forgetting to set his camera up.

I legit think that Spidey and his Amazing Friends, the 80s (and a small dash of 90s to his hate) and Raimi (plus Raimi's opinions) are all he really fucking knows that he hasn't wiki'd. He probably also only knows Spawn from the movie too. I genuinely think if it wasn't on TV, then he sure as shit doesn't know it.

True. But I think it's interesting that, with the sudden rise of fuckable monsters in mainstream film, we're seeing Tumblr of all places embrace a group of characters who would be, in other cases, written off as problematic cishetmales. Venom especially embodies a lot of "toxic masculinity"--he's violent, physical, strong, puts up with no nonsense, protective, principled (in his weird way), and definitely not a beta. Take away the symbiote, and he'd be the SJWs' number one target. But since he's not entirely human, IE more than a ciswhitemale, it's okay to like him?

I remember Venom doing that! I read an old Carnage comic where Venom referenced Stranger in the Night, never knew that was a big trait of his.

Venom really liked the song "Strangers in the Night," I remember. There were at least two comics where he'd hum or sing it to himself while he was on the hunt.

Also, Bob's extended Twitter monologue on Venom proves only that he knows how to read a Wikipedia page. Reading the summary isn't the same as actually reading the comics, but we should know by now that basic common sense is beyond our Bob.

Even then, Raimi fucked over a lot more characters than Homecoming in my honest opinion. Particularly in Copy-Paste-of-Green-Goblin Doc Ock, Dull and Boring Mary Jane, Cringey and Gay Venom, Emotionally manipulative Sandman, and utterly stupid motives for Peter to quit being Spider-Man (no, I don’t care if it is “comic accurate”). But Bob shills it because it was the first one he saw.
For fucks sake, this one moment in Spectacular Spider-Man seems to take a good shit all over Spider-Man 2.
If Bob ever saw this, he’d insist that it encourages, “Toxic Masculinity” by having Peter continue to do the right thing regardless of what his friends think of him, rather than quit because he made some bad decisions (and because it isn’t the poorly-aged 90s cartoon).
