Second, Bob assumes IQ tests is racist and classist. Why? Only Bob can answer, but based on his tweets I'm guessing he assumes intelligence = worth. This is a dangerous road to go down because it means that some races and people are considered "superior" or "inferior", "valuable" or "worthless", or you could say "obsolete".

So, this is my really big problem with Bob. He equates "intelligence" with just knowing things. There isn't even the slightest questioning of it. Like we talked about this in class today. We were talking about how a disproportionate number of African American students end up in Special Ed. The professor wasn't all "this is because of the dang dirty Republicans". It was "we're trying to fix this. We have an old broken system, that doesn't account for what we know now" Going on about how teachers are far too quick to just write off students to get them out of their hair.

Because IQ tests themselves aren't classist or racist. They measure average intelligence. Which fucking obviously means nothing. So it's been traditionally held to a certain standard. People are currently trying to fix that. Putting new measures down to create proper standards to hold people against for IQ tests.

So that's where he gets these ideas. Because he takes a nuanced concept, boils it down to a headline. And then chops it up to a preview.
