Rather than look at this and think "Hey, It's great that there's a 'progressive' who's palatable to conservatives." He uses this to sperg like a fucking idiot and it shows his sheer refusal to look at ideas outside of his large, rapidly expanding bubble (the bubble is expanding because fat)

Watching GoodBadFlicks' latest video (he has had some trouble of late, yay he's back!) and all I can think of is: 'I would love to watch moviebob try to process the clashing of his "directors are always right" vs "minorities are always superior" vs "women are always victims" principles.'

(see also GBF's review of the first film)

Yes. He flat out admitted he was alright with being fired.

It seems like he was just trying to prevent the controversy from getting any bigger. Which seems to indicate that he has other stuff that he doesn't want dug up about him.

I doubt it, but I could be wrong. It seems more likely he's just trying to keep his head down and stay quiet until it blows over. He knows the longer it goes on, the more tyetrumors will stick. And he wouldn't be wrong. Most people have already likely forgotten the incident and have moved on. People like Bob sperging about it constantly are actually making it more likely people will be reminded that there was a pedophile connection with Gunn. The people trying to fight on his behalf are doing him the most harm.

When Gunn got fired, a rumor started floating around that Disney pulled strings to save James Gunn's ass for CP possession. When the Feds were investigating/busting Gunn's friend for CP, it was rumored that they raided Gunn's place and found CP on him too. Disney made the entire thing go away, but informed Gunn that if any further scandal came out, he'd be fired on the spot due to Disney being terrified that their intervention on Gunn's behalf would become public knowledge.

I didn’t hear about this but I wouldn’t be surprised if this becomes real. Gunn is being smart and not letting this blow up.

If this were actually true, I would love to see the look on Bob’s face.

I don't consider a lack of female characters to be a problem, but it makes a lot of executives twitchy (and I imagine it's even worse now than it was in 2003). Master and Commander is one of my favorites. By way of example, think about another 2003 film: Return of the King had no female characters beyond Arwen, Galadriel, and Eowyn, who are all fairly marginal and not terribly expanded from their roles in the book (a good deal of Arwen's stuff was taken from the Appendices). By the time they did The Hobbit, they were inventing a new character just to make sure you had a waman in there somewhere.

Arwen just stole stuff from other characters or they rewrote the story to let her do stuff. I always like to claim she never stays in Rivendell because Glorfindel is pissed off she stole his horse to go save Frodo.

Which because I know you read this. That's how you make a dumb self aware script. You have it play off of what actually happens in the source material and not what you read on Wikipedia. Oh and it doesn't cater to some fat idiot's political ideology. P.S. I'm sorry you have to fix that LotR script now that you know who Glorfindel is

Bob then defends that Fembusters is only "okay" but feels the hate for it so overblown. He Fembusters story and action scenes feel disconnected. His explanation on this is that it's simply a symptom of modern Hollywood's desire to put in costly CG effects and rush out movies with minimal time to develop for maximum profit, thus guaranteed Fembusters' story felt half-baked.
The first complaint, ever since the trailer of Fembusters was put up, was that the CGI was atrocious, literally at the level of PS2 console. As for "minimal time"? The cast has found ample time for stupid publicity stunts such as these:

The reason that the story is shit is that Sony didn't believe they needed a story at all; Amy Pascal thought nostalgia plus woke power would have sold the film.

What a fucking NPC.

Yeah, he's full of shit about that. Prometheus killed At the Mountains of Madness, because it was an uncomfortably similar idea (scientific expedition ventures to distant place, finds ruins of an alien civilization, and unleashes a bunch of monsters with a lot of unsettling implications for the origins of humanity) and that movie tanked hard.

I'd heard it the reason there's no Lovecraft movies outside of student films is the cost for the effects has always been prohibitive. Though that excuse made me wonder why they don't just make an animated movie. But let's say it has to be live action. A Lovecraft movie would be a niche cult horror film, but needs a blockbuster budget to even stand a chance of coming close to the written versions. Though that makes me wonder why they don't do a budget film based on one of the smaller scale stories but that's also not an option for some reason.

I just read that TVTropes page and I can't believe Bob said that if people who hate politicians flip flopping for the sake of brownie points, then they should hate politicians for simply getting married.

I'm too lazy to find the video, but it's his typical obsolete wasteland ghoul rant. The "logic" is that flip flopping is the same as changing your mind and changing your mind is a good thing, but people are irrationally afraid of flip flopping in case the president suddenly decides to sell America to Russia or whatever. I'm not American and I don't follow the politics, but even I know what a RINO is and why they are hated by their voter base.

YouTube is notorious for deplatforming and demonetizing people who are even remotely critical of the far-left. Some far-left critics don't even appear in the recommendations or will find their accounts temporally banned for no reason. What does Bob want exactly? Everybody aside from him, feminist frequency, and hbomberguy banned? I'm sure that will go over well.

Fuck it, we know what this is really about. Razorfist, Sargon of Akkad, PewDiePie, Red Letter Media, and CinemaSins all disagree with Bob and are way more popular, so they should be forced to disappear to drive views towards Bob instead. That sounds selfish and short sighted, so let's stick some on some convenient labels from the big box of bad people words to make it seem more ideological.

What a fucking NPC.
Imagine dying and begging for death to hurry up before the movie hit theaters.

Lovecraft just doesn't translate well to a visual medium, if you show what the things look like you've already failed, they're supposed to be unimaginable, incomprehensible, you can't really do that in a movie IMO.
You can still borrow from it, and plenty of movies/shows do.

Aggggh I totally forgot about Glorfindel! I think it's because it's a change I was okay with -- Arwen is important to the story in a way Glorfindel isn't.

Can we pour one out for Gildor Inglorion?

All the more reason to do one of the shorter stories where the monster is a decomposing corpse or a guy who makes creepy paintings. But again, that's not allowed for some reason. They should be doable with smaller budgets and use the profits to make the bigger movies, or make a Netflix anthology series where the episodes can range from 20 minutes to 3 hours depending on the story.

Off topic, but BirdBox was originally going to show the monster that so horrifying the sight of it drove people to suicide! It was a pale, wrinkly bald man with no teeth. Truly the stuff of nightmares.

Although in defense, Glorfindel was practically the definition of 'throwaway character', and Tolkien had to bullshit a bit as to why Elrond let Merry and Pippin join the Fellowship and not Glorfindel (yes, I know a mighty Elf Lord couldn't charge the fucking gates of Minas Morgul, but I'm pretty certain he'd be more useful than those two knuckleheads).

Heck, in the old animated version of LotR, they gave his role to Legolas. So it didn't shock me in the slightest when they swapped him out for Arwen in the film.

I've been watching with my buddy "electric dreams" which is like outer limits/black mirror except it's adapting Phillip K Dick stories.

Would be nice to see something like that ("unspeakable things" maybe?) adapting Lovecraft's short stories.

The Equalizer and John Wick movies might not be perfect, but at least they're more memorable than the woke shit coming out these days.
Both of those movies did something that a lot of action movies avoid - they strived for a more realistic portrayal of violence, or some of its aspects. Both were surprisingly smart thanks to that aspect, while being good action movies.
In equaliser the typical person's approach to violence was lampooned, how normal people go through threats and posturing rather than immediately escalating to lethal force, in contrast to our sociopath main hero.
In John Wick someone made the brilliant decision to check how guns and gunfights work prior to filming action scenes, and thanks to that it was the first movie that provoked an emotional reaction from me since, uhhh, Dune I think.

Would you believe they actually adapted "Cool Air" for an episode of Night Gallery? They turned it into a romance, which probably tells you all you need to know about the prospects for adapting Lovecraft faithfully.

For a guy who rants so much about religion and not believing in god, he sure is pissed off that he himself isn't god.

He's so butthurt that he can't control everything that is going on at any given moment. We talk about him wanting to be a wannabe Hitler, he actually wants to be even more powerful than a dictator. He wants to be able to control literally everything, just so he could do away with something he hates the moment it comes to his attention.

Guess what Bob: you aren't god. You never will be either.
