Maybe I'm an obsolete mayonnaise ghoul that's too stupid to understand Bob's superior logic, but something about it doesn't sound right to me.

  • Preemptively saying a film is going to be shit without seeing it first means you're "channer trash", "gamergate trash", and one of the "little people".
  • Preemptively saying a film is a 10/10 must see masterpiece without seeing it first is perfectly fine.
  • Preemptively saying you're not going to see the film is perfectly acceptable unless you're James Rofle.
  • Boycotting and brigading of a film won't have an effect on the box office.
  • Ghostbuster 2016 was only a failure at the box office because it was brigaded by channer trash, gamergate, and misogynist trolls.
  • Gamergate are desperate to try and prove "get woke go broke" despite there being a large amount of examples already.

Hollywood is the master at jumping on and off bandwagons to try and catch that sweet sweet profit, except when it comes to being Woke. They just keep trying and trying and trying despite it being pretty much box office poison. why

Wrinkle in Time was a box office bomb because they threw out the main theme for the film adaptation, which is Christianity.

It also looked like a Day-Glo acid hallucination, and not in a good way.

Oh and there was the woke racelifting. And throwing in an adopted relationship when in the book the whole point of the relationship was that only Meg had understood Charles Wallace since he was born. And Chris Pine was supposed to be a physicist on the level of Einstein.

A Wrinkle in Time was nothing less than the rape of an American literary treasure for bullshit politics. It deserved to tank, and it should have been buried in Bob's serial killer basement.

Which is ironic because IIRC (though I've been meaning to reread it), the Christianity in the book was of the subtle variety and is not easy to spot.

What's really ironic is that it really ran afoul of Hollywood's currently religion. To quote from the attached comment:

"In the book, IT tries to convince Meg that under it, everyone is alike so everything is great. Meg answers that "Like and equal are not the same." The movie eliminates that line because in the name of progress and representation and empowerment, it DOES say that. To the filmmakers, this is exactly what they suggest. When we all believe and act alike, we can be equal. The film wants to celebrate skin color and diversity by saying, "See, this is how we fight against evil--we are all the same, so be a warrior and fight."
. . .
[D]on't excuse bad art just because it was made for the right reasons."

Hollywood is the master at jumping on and off bandwagons to try and catch that sweet sweet profit, except when it comes to being Woke. They just keep trying and trying and trying despite it being pretty much box office poison. why

Because like I keep telling everyone, this isn't about a trend or anything, this is pure faith in Hollywood's current religion. Just think about how Christian film makers may do various popular styles in their own films but they never give up that whole "christian" thing do they? Even though it doesn't seem to help their box office.

Hollywood is no different except that they're in denial about it actually being a faith.

Captain Marvel = Marvel cape shit that people will go see regardless of the character because of the marvel name and advertising. This is not going to bomb because Brie Larson is a cunt, it will do as well as dr strange or ant man.

Well it could though it could pull numbers where it does under 500 million where it is a success but it is also a disappointment if they keep up the marketing for the film.

STILL delusional about Black Panther winning Best Picture, despite being ignorant that it would be one of the most appalling films to win.

Also thinks Netflix will kill theaters unless BP wins.

Off topic side note: Why do I get the feeling Marvel Studios might have inspired Netflix and Amazon to make their own films as non traditional studios. Might seem delusional, but I see a connection.

Sperging about Bernie Sanders running for president in 2020.

I'm sure this question has been asked before, probably including by me, but if "white America" is so obsolete, why in the blue fuck should anyone listen to Bob? He's as white as cottage cheese, and about as lumpy.

God he is such a repulsive racist.

At least he’s continuing to give anyone reasons to vote for Trump in 2020.

Bob actually does have an interesting point here as one could reason that CM is the appetizer to Avengers: Endgame's entree. However, the way Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios as a whole speak about the character and Brie Larson gives me the impression that they want to make her the cornerstone of the post-Endgame MCU. Hence why they are attempting to make CM a phenomenon on the level of Black Panther with their marketing blitz.

The problem? Brie Larson is nowhere near as likable as Chris Evans/Hemsworth/Pratt or RDJ nor has she demonstrated any charisma is the trailers released so far. Most of the MCU actors at least spout their own political views or ideologies on their own time. Larson's third-wave feminism has been the centerpiece of her promotion of the film and that she sees it as a means to further her own activism. Character is--at best--a secondary concern.

Then again, what does Bob care about character building? As long as CM conforms to his personal political ideology and pedestrian tastes, he'll rave about it as he did for Black Panther.

So is Blobb saying that if BP wins the Oscar somehow Hollywood is saved? He’s really stupid if he thinks that winning the Oscar legitimizes cape shit (it doesn’t).
He thinks there's a mentality that Netflix and other streaming services are the future of cinema and that theaters would only be used to show superhero and film franchises.

Then again, what does Bob care about character building? As long as CM conforms to his personal political ideology and pedestrian tastes, he'll rave about it as he did for Black Panther.
This is why I keep hammering the point home that Bob will still run down to see MCU films despite the James Gunn nonsense.

This brings up an interesting question regarding the MCU: what exactly are their plans once Avengers is finished? We'll continue getting new films, but will they actually be building up to anything? All these stupid films over the years have been building up the Avengers and this big Infinity War event.

Now that the Avengers franchise is coming to an end and the Infinity War event is going to be over with, what are the news films going to be based around? Are they just all going to be standalone films in their own franchises that will continue getting milked until Disney finally decides to end the MCU?

If I recall correctly, I think Feige has made some comments about using the "New Avengers" name at some point and also of adapting a less space focused event like Dark Reign as the follow up to IW.

Bob is to the Oscars' importance as he is to his own importance.

is there a place to read about bob's pre internet life other than his book? I'm trying to piece together a timeline but I am NOT going through his entire twitter feed, or the 2000 page thread for that matter.

Go to his old blog and look for the oldest stuff you can find. Let me know if you need links/jump points.
