Not really. Apparently Jussie Smollett wasn’t happy with what he was making off of Empire so he staged a attack and hired tow Nigerians who were extras on the show to get attention, and also tied it to Trump and racism in America.

It’s more and less the same manner in using identity politics to destroy you careers and lose your jobs. Much like how Bob’s sperging about GamerGate and getting them ban off of The Escapist cost him his job, I imagine Smollett will get shit canned by Fox and the producers of Empire.

It's an interesting point. We know from leaked chatlogs and a few incidents that have slopped over into the public view that the anti-GG crowd has no use for Brianna Wu (because she's a conniving, unprincipled grifter with no measurable skills beyond self-promotion and a Svengali-esque hold over a screaming Chinaman) ... has there ever been a hint what they think of Bob? He doesn't seem to be a con artist like Brianna Wu, but he's just so unpleasant and strident, even beyond what's normal for that crowd. I imagine he's such a nonentity that they likely don't pay him much mind (outside of Russ Pitts's sterling judgment), but I'd be curious to see behind the curtain.

Bob's not well liked by these people. Even ignoring what a tremendous asshole he is, keep in mind that he has no connections anywhere. He has no real power, he's just an idiot who screams through Twitter. These people all want useful allies at their disposal, not just some schmuck who shares the same opinions.

The gaming union is never going to take off because there are too many people spread across a large number of companies. At best they could unionize temps that do QA or other meaningless tasks but never development or higher level work. A lot of devs are lolbertarians, at least the ones that have skill and can code not the fake devs like Zoe Quinn etc.

That seems to be the case. For me one of the most telling things was when Bob worked at The Escapist 1 he occasionally did guest appearances on podcasts and convention panels, had his photo taken rubbing elbows with Anita Sarkseesian, Devin Farci, and Jim Sterling. It was the usual cross promotion/guest spot stuff, but all that vanished after he was fired, not even a guest post on Jim Sterling's blog or a appearance on Anita Sarkeesians podcast. We've only started seeing him do that stuff again since he was hired by The Escapist 2 Electric Boogaloo.

It's as if his so called friends have no interest in him beyond using his platform to signal boost the outrage of the week. Once that platform was gone all the calls stopped, and the day he got that platform back they came back around looking for favours.

Let’s also not forget the fact that Leslie Jones bitched out at the fans for being sexist who didn’t like the trailer, which was super unfunny.

But let’s also not forget, growing up is a alien term for Bob.

There was a lot wrong with Ghosbusters 2016, a big part of it was that I just don’t think the writers understood comedy. Case in point: the film has 3 jokes that center around soup. Not only is it not a funny running gag, it honestly feels like they watched The Soup Nazi episode of Seinfeld and thought that the joke was that it was soup, and not that characters going to such extremes over such a mundane thing.
The aggressive marketing was also a big flaw. They were offering free tickets with Blu-ray copies of the old movie(direct advertising to fans) they brought back Ecto-Cooler(more direct marketing to fans) and had that huge press event with all the props from the old movie(even more direct marketing to fans) and then decided to make a movie that didn’t appeal to any of the old fans and actively went against the idea that fans need to exist.
While I somewhat agree that fans shouldn’t pressure someone into making something a specific way, there is no point in using a well established IP with decades of fan build up only to not do anything to make the fanbase happy.
Fans are the only reason any creative medium exists. Only truly untalented artists or unpopular ones have problems with the notion of having fans and doing work you know will please fans.
And right now around ghostbusters there is a lot of hate pushed towards the fans just for being fans. They’re being blamed for the movie’s failure because no one wants to accept credit for their own short coming, and people like bob allow them to get away with that shadiness
