Ian was saying that video games would become bad under socialism.I don't even get what he's trying to say with the Ian tweet.

I'm not sure why he used Tetris, but I think he wants all games to be like the NES days again. Is he trying to use Tetris as an example of a bad game? Because while it's not for everyone, it's not a bad game by any means. It has it's own appeal.
I think that was Bob posting Tetris in response as an example of why socialism is good for video games or something since it was made by a Soviet. Is he trying to use Tetris as an example of a bad game? Because while it's not for everyone, it's not a bad game by any means. It has it's own appeal.
The quote from Ian (which you can't see because of Godzilla@1989's retarded and awful crop) says: "Video games wouldn't exist under socialism." Bob counters this by showing a picture of Tetris, a game developed in the USSR.I don't even get what he's trying to say with the Ian tweet.
The Soviet Union owned the rights to the game for 10 years so he didn't see any money from it until ironically, he came to America and founded a company to license Tetris and actually collect royalties from it.Disntnthe guy who made Tetris make like zero money offnit? The Soviet Union wouldn’t let him or something?
Unions mean jack shit in a world where you can just pack up and move to a different country with a cheaper labor force. Most college-educated leftists want to start unions because "people made more money back when they existed, why can't we just bring them back? " They don't realize that Unions are useless unless they have something to bargain with, something to leverage. That something used to be labor, but in a world with no borders, labor is everywhere! Starting a labor union in this day and age is akin to setting up a snocone stand in the artic, in the middle of winter and charging 10 bucks a scoop.
According to Wikipedia, Alexey Pajitnov started to receive royalties for Tetris in 1996. I assume the collapse of the Soviet Union allowed for that to happen.Bob seems to be forgetting that Alexey Pajitnov, the original creator of Tetris, never recieved a single dime from his creation and all the proceeds were seized by the Soviet government.
And you can't as easily outsource workers you need locally- welders, machinists, plumbers, etc.they're completely useless in white-collar professions, but carry a lot more clout in jobs where physical work is required, particularly skilled physical work (i.e. the one sector of the job market where you're least likely to find university-educated leftists)

I agree with these sentiments, I think unions are potentially inevitable simply because the people at the top are so greedy and short sighted that things will inevitably hit critical mass, they've consistantly shown to overplay their hand with loot crate gambling so it's unlikely they'll back down on treating their staff shamefully.
Even if it doesnt then somethings got to give, If anything Activisions antics might be the start of poisoning the well by making it clear that game development is usually soul destroying drudge work.
Ironically the liberal tech culture might actually be obstructing this process by allowing the companies to present themselves as 'progressive'.

Oscar Wilde defined the sentimentalist as one “who desires to have the luxury of an emotion without paying for it.” A sentimental moralist is one who desires the luxury of a moral response—the undeniable pleasure of righteous indignation, the delectable horror at the evil of others—without paying the cost. He need not uphold a consistent morality in order to indulge in moral denunciation. He need not bother with ascertaining facts, because justice in any particular case is not the point. His censures exist to assure himself and others that he is a good and well-meaning person. Because he confuses feelings with morality, he invariably condemns others for their lack of feeling.
It's exchanges like this that really put the truth to Scott Alexander's comment about SJWs- "all hatreds are forbidden except class hatreds, which are to be held with the vehemence of all previous hatreds combined."Sperging about fucking chef boyardee

Color me unsurprised that he leaps to defense of shitty canned pasta that looks and tastes like dog food, but which is super easy to prepare on a hot plate.Big talk for a guy living in a basement.
Speaking of McNuggets, I imagine he brought them to his Oscars party.Favorite food is McNuggets and cocktails made with Sprite.
