Considering the political leanings of his family, I'm going out on a limb and say it's hidden option #3: Not spanked AT ALL.
This is what I think. I'm betting his parents were the no corporal punishment type. Plus, I really believe he's on the autism spectrum, so I have a feeling that his parents gave him anything he wants when he threw a temper tantrum because he just didn't know better. "He has a condition". That's why it seems when he doesn't get his way as an adult, he thinks something is being taken from him for malicious reasons, like a superior future.

So much virtue signaling. His friend being tricked isn't surprisingly detailed. Pretty basic information if you ask me.

Bob is even NICE GUYing a mad up troon, so damn thirsty.

Yeah, you’re just a chickenshit for not sucking or being into girl cock like male feminist Blobb Chipman.

We’re all in agreement that Blobb wouldn’t date a tranny either right?
Yeah, this is another example where I wish his wokeness bites him in the ass. Like he meets some passable tranny at a bar, they go back to his basement, and just has Bob finally thinks he's about to lose his virginity, the pants come off and he's starring at a dick. And in his horror and disappointment he has to tactfully explain that she's totally a cool chick and a total knockout, but he's not into penis, and she gets offended and calls him transphobic because he should accept that she's a real woman and he's being a huge bigot. Then she calls him out on Twitter.

I'm sure Bob would give it a game try, and as he's doing so, he'll just lie back and think of Princess Peach. Or Mario. Anyone besides me think that his GO episode where he spergs over a possible female Link in the (then) next Zelda game was a bit of wishful thinking on his part? It's clear he was attracted to the new (male) Link, and to cover up that attraction, he simply said, "Buh, What if it's actually a GIRL? Heh? I love girls...Yup....Sure do love em...."

I think you're touching on an important aspect of Bob's life: his desire to escape reality. Bob loves escapism because he hates thinking about his real life and he loves it mindless because he doesn't want to think deeply about anything so movies are absolutely perfect for him. They let him turn off reality for several hours at a stretch. And the reality is that Bob is unattractive both mentally and physically and has been for the majority of his life, certainly since at least high school. He's completely intellectually incurious, yet completely stubborn about refusing to ever admit compromise or accept any correction, however small. He lacks any real emotional range, being limited mostly to anger and self-righteousness. Movies show him what emotions he's supposed to feel and when. I bet he's got real problems figuring that out in real life, so movies are always going to be one of the two emotional centers of Bob's life. The other being screaming at strangers over social media.
I think Bob is more like Spoony when he said he can't shut his brain up. How else can you see socio-political commentary in Mario 3?

I've known two people who have seen a shrink, both of them speak well of it and seem better for it. Even if the actual 'science' of it is pretty shackey, their's certainly something to be said for sitting on a couch talking through your emotional problems and learning some coping mechanisms.

You do however have to want to get better which is where Bob Falls flat.
If it wasn't for Bob's woke Twitter friends telling him to hate Jordan Peterson, he'd actually get a lot out of his advice. Jordan Peterson argues that the reason shrinks help people so much despite shaky science and philosophies is that most people who seek their help have no structure in their lives, and some structure (even a bad one) is better than nothing.

I don't know if that's true or not.

On the one hand, all it needs is a "and everybody clapped" to be something from r/thathappened, and Bob never leaves the house. On the other hand, there's no confrontation, no call out, he just sits at a bar listing to people talk and not saying or doing anything except calling this non-specific person "chickenshit" on Twitter. That doesn't make him tough or cool. Why make up such a milquetoast story?

The biggest obstacle in Bob's life is that he refuses to accept any responsibility for his life being the way it is. It is very obvious that Bob isn't happy with how his life has turned out, that he has both expected and continues to want more. However, he refuses to even confront the fact that he might be the wrong one and that it isn't societies fault for his shortcomings.

The fact that he's literally blamed others for him not living on a spaceship with robots demonstrates just how lacking in self-awareness he is.

But that's just it isn't it?
To Bob his entire life is one of being victimized and denied by others. In school it was the jocks "bullying", citation needed of course, him. And as an adult it's the fucking Flyover untermensch holding the Superior Coastal Elite like Bob down.
We would have our Moon Wheat by now if not for the Garbage Humans! "Accepting Responsibility" is a nonstarter as far as his ego is concerned. He may be subconsciously miserable but consciously he thinks he's the greatest.

I can't help but picture Bob sitting there gnawing on a plate of Mozzarella Sticks while a couple chatted. And how Elliot Rodgers-esque to think about how beautiful the date was while the man was a piece of shit who didn't deserve the attention of the opposite sex. Bob with his cultivated mass should have been the one chatting with this beautiful lady as he discussed The Big Picture and what's next for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
