As someone commented in the video Bob referenced, people are taking it as a personal insult, as though Scorcese is telling them they're less intelligent for liking Marvel movies. Which he didn't do.

But, the thing is, even if he was saying "marvel movies are shit", who cares? There are a lot of media I consume that is very shitty and I don't mind. You can enjoy shitty things and that doesn't mean your taste is shit. Just embrace it, fgs.

Bob has the weirdest aversion to creators/makers listening to fans.
Back when Mass Effect 3 released Bob had the biggest bug up his ass about Retake Mass Effect, he had/has never touched Mass Effect unsurprisingly, because how dare the plebs question the almighty creators.
I think it ties back into "thinkers vs. non-thinkers" because fans are "non-thinkers" and artists are "thinkers" I guess.
Any time there is a fan backlash, unless it's something being declared problematic of course, you can bet Bob will come down hard on the side of the studio/company/whatever.
The irony being that Bob himself is a mindless consumer/fan boy and has no right to hold himself equal with people in the entertainment industry but we all knew that already.

You're definitely putting more thought into this than Bob has. I prefer a simpler explanation: on a subliminal level Bob wants the masses to have things they don't want forced on them and to suffer in silence because misery loves company.

To be fair, Star Wars has never used realistic military tactics. After all, one fan-favorite character is able to deduce the best way to defeat his enemies by merely observing paintings.

Ackchyually, Star Wars kind of bounces back and forth with this. For example, the prequels had mostly competent sword fight scenes because they hired experts on sword fighting, but occasionally they threw it all away for silliness like "I have the high ground!"

The Last Jedi managed to have almost no competent fights of any kind while outdoing everything else in the series in terms of stupidity (ie- one of Snoke's guards throwing his weapon away before running in to get killed and another getting his knife digitally removed in the middle of combat because he hit Rae and they didn't cut it out). It's a new low for the series.

Truly. Two great opposing forces clash in a brutal battle: Bob's love for probably the only relatives that are not absolutely embarrassed of him or his political alignment.
