To make things even more complicated, I’m pretty sure one of the sequels shows that Mario and Luigi’s parents were toads. Like they weren’t even adopted or anything, two little mushroom people somehow spawned two small chubby Italian men. Really looking for any sort of deep lore in a Mario game will give you a brain aneurysm, so I’m lead to believe Bob’s deteriorating mental state is probably a result of him digging too deep into the Mario series trying to find proof Mario is actually from Brooklyn like the autist he is and going mad from the sheer madness of it all.

Like some canadian company owns parts, DIC owns a part(but it was recently bought out by another company) and it's just a legal nightmare.
