Now, I could be mistaken, but it seems to me that those who romanticize life in the cities have those dreams shattered much faster and at a higher rate than those who romanticize life in the country. City life is great for those at the top, but for all the plebs beneath, you've got cramped living spaces with exorbitant rent, jobs that likely don't pay well enough to help you move up in the world, crime, homelessness, filth, and all other problems that arise from packing millions of people into a small area.

It's telling how this troon describes rural areas, and it sure makes sense that Bob retweeted him, because it's clear he feels the same way. They want everyone evicted from rural areas and the whole landscape returned to wilderness for posh cityfolk to visit because they have such disdain for the people who live there. They stereotype rural people as wife-beaters and methheads, ignoring the huge amounts of crime and drug abuse in cities.

The point about car accidents got me thinking, so I did some research. I found a couple websites that talked about vehicular accidents and fatalities. This page suggests that per capita fatalities are higher in more rural states due to increased highway driving, but that's not a very helpful breakdown geographically-speaking. I find this map to be much more enlightening, a heatmap of all vehicular fatalities across a decade-long period. Aside from strings of fatalities along major highways, there are huge clusters that just so happen to line up with urban centers. Those fatalities mostly involve pedestrians, which makes sense.

Now, in my cursory search, I couldn't find maps of non-fatal accidents, so I'd have to do more research to draw a more full conclusion. My gut tells me that the total number of accidents is higher in the cities, but perhaps a smaller percentage being fatal because you're generally driving at lower speeds, or stuck in stop-and-go traffic. Point is, this troon and Bob are both dumbfucks who seem to be unable to fathom the idea that some people really want to be left alone, that they'd rather not be crammed with lots of other people with barely any space to their name.

I can understand people who say car travel is bad (I don't think it's the great Satan, but I will admit it's not perfect), but how does this person get from living in suburbia to abusive relationships? I've never lived in a city and I apologize for my ignorance, but what is so good about cities? You got crime, trash everywhere, and you have to live in close proximity to many people. The only real upside as far as I'm concerned is that you can walk or take public transit to places.

I think it's less about loving cities and more about hating rural areas and the people that live there. Bob and his ilk view anywhere outside of a major city as being useless wastelands filled with murderers and drug addicts, doing nothing but trying to ruin the lives of the good people in the cities. In a nutshell, they base their entire perception of rural areas off those hillbilly caricatures of bucktoothed, inbred, alcoholic Neanderthals who don't need no education. Feeling superior to said hillbillies probably has something to do with it as well.
