You can't compare Top Gun with Captain Marvel. Maverick is cocky, but has a redemption arc that makes him a sympathetic character in the end. Brie Larson is just obnoxious at the start and getting even more so as her superpowers are revealed.
I blame that more on the actor than the writer or director. Brie Larson knows two forms of acting: "plank of wood" mode, and "elementary school bully" mode. A more talented actress probably could have made the character work.

The fact that Motion Picture Robert thinks Hillary will create his Star Trek future is hilarious to me.

Let me remind that the guy arguing this was pissed that Scott Pilgram got wrecked by The Expendables at the box office.

Honestly, I dont wanna sound like Im defending Bobo. But the Expendables 1 fucking sucked nuts, an I heard people trying to defend it like "Oh, this is like those 80s action movies", an it was more like the shitty ones, combined with every other bad aspect from the writing to the filming.

Lol, his whole rant about robots and spaceships was about how he, specifically, was personally robbed of his robot body and personal spaceship. He shoulda been orbiting earth by now, threatening to drop a-bombs on those obsolete mayo ghouls! What do you mean Bob would have been last in line for a brain transfer? He's a coastal elite, he's smahtah then those rich kids from Hahvaad! Dozens of people interact with him online every day, he's totally an influencer!
[THIS IS WHAT ROBERT ACTUALLY BELIEVES]

You can't expect a weird anime esque live action movie starring Michael Cera that's based on a niche comic book to out gross a movie featuring every major action movie star from the 80s.

Well, lets be honest 80s action movie star wise we got like, maybe five guys tops and three of them were borderline cameos at best. Im not saying that Scott Pilgrim should or would have kicked Expendables ass, but the length people went to defend that trainwreck was nothing short of eye rolling.

Of course, one might say the same thing about Scott Pilgrim.
Honestly, maybe I missed the memo. But most defences I saw is "Well, this is a closet to a video game type adaption youd get" and maybe the fighting scenes. Usually hipsters were ones who railed on the movie, since thus the book became mainstream...which is more funny since the book actively mocks hipsters and theit culture.

I consider anything said of Scott Pilgrim beyond "burn all the prints and bury them under the Chernobyl sarcophagus" to be a defense of it, but, well, I'm a cranky old fuck with no patience. Carry on!

Scott Pilgrim ruined an entire generation of men and women. The hero is an unlikable, narcissistic millennial asswipe who is the very personification of the term "simp" and the love interest is a pretentious BPD cunt who's almost as uninteresting as she is toxic and they spend the whole movie fucking over each other and the actually likable characters around them but because it's so wacky and stylized everyone overlooks that.

I'm glad it got its ass kicked by "dads shooting machine guns: the movie"

"Sure Robert constantly dehumanizes everyone he doesn't like. Sure he constantly alludes to eugenics. Sure he's an angry, vindictive person. It was just a bad joke!!!". Do these people even read his tweets?

If you really want to get a eugenics program up and running, you could do a lot worse than sterilizing anyone who twists themselves into knots trying to defend and explain the thinking behind Bob's verbal diarrhea.

Chicken marinated in Mountain Dew...

*sigh*

That has to be a joke, right? Right?
You can actually make a pretty interesting marinade with soda if you do it right. I've had "Root Beer Chicken" before, and it actually tasted good. But it's still pretty goddamn absurd and white trashy, especially since he picked the most redneck soda humanly possible.

It shouldn't frustrate me so much how bad his diet still is when he's diabetic, but it does.

He always picks the most redneck foods possible, which is why I find his pretensions at coastal elitism so funny. This is the guy who thought touting his macaroni salad recipe was how he owned #Drumpf for liking steak well done.

Baz Luhrmann has made a career out of making hallow but pretty movies. Scott Pilgrim didn't have much to say for itself and it was as millennial as all fuck, but it was pretty to look at and had a couple laughs.

It is completely responsible for the rise of the dangerhair, though.

"Sure, Bob has said on multiple occasions that the Midwest is full of subhumans who deserve to die off, but he hates the same people I do, so it's OK!"

Im gonna disagree on that Scott Pilgrim was the reason we got a rise of danger hairs, Id say the Divergent series have more roots in that than anything.
