I don't want to get too long winded with my reply to something stupid Bob said, so I'm just going to put this in spoilers. I'm a few years older than Bob, and I was there during the rise of geek culture. Went to see Phantom Menace, X-Men 1, and Raimi Spiderman on opening night. I have yet to see Rise of Skywalker, waited weeks to see Endgame, and Spiderman Homecoming watched On-Demand. There definitely be a correlation between Leftist/Progressive politics and geek culture. In the 00's, geek culture started gaining momentum at the same time we had the Bush administration and people's growing weariness of the Iraq war, progressive politics and journalism was getting a stronger voice. The 10's, the Marvel Cinematic Universe took off, and we have the first African American President. Gay marriage is finally legalized in all 50 states. Geek culture is making so much money, Disney buys up Marvel, Star Wars, and the Muppets, while DC stops dragging it's feet and starts trying to put out movies, and they had the Arrowverse as well. Then, people start get tired of Progressives constant crybullying that they need to have everything revolve around them. Everything they touch turns to shit and fans just threw up their hands and walked away. And we got Trump as President. So yeah, keep pushing those Leftist policies. It's been a fun ride.

Like I said in my previous post about Bobby's finances, I have no idea what his budget looks like, only making semi-educated guesses. If it's true he's renting from a relative, he's probably being cut some kind of family deal on rent. Beyond that, I can't see him having much in the way of expenses: he has no one to support but himself, he might have a car that he has to pay for, and his vices seem limited to food and booze and whatever arcade he spends way too much time at. $3k a month from Patreon (minus fees and their own cut) plus whatever the Escapist pays him would probably put him at probably no more than $40k a year, give or take a few thousand. If budgeted reasonably well, I can see him living somewhat comfortably with that.
Now, if he dropped another thousand a month, then we're talking closer to $25k, which is a lot harder to stretch, but possibly feasible if he cut back on his arcade trips and alcohol consumption (I can't see him ever cutting back on the food). If the Escapist has to let him go (or if they go under), then that's more money gone. Maybe he can pick up more freelance gigs if that happens, but considering his negative reactions basically everywhere online, a rag would have to be pretty desperate to get the Blob on board. If it drops further than that, then we'd probably be looking at "Bob attempts to find gainful employment."
Bob's currently on a downward slide pretty much entirely of his own making, and I wonder if his deflection about his Patreon is sincere (he honestly doesn't know he's dropping in patrons) or deflection (he's pretending it doesn't concern him). His Patreon could certainly fall quicker if the economy doesn't rebound and more people have to cancel their pledges due to tighter budgets. At the current rate, I doubt he'll start worrying about finances for another year or so, but we'll just have to see. I know we all want to watch Bobby stumble through job interviews, but realistically, it won't happen anytime soon. Unless the entire economy collapses, in which case we'll have much bigger problems to worry about. I'd rather Bob keep getting paid than everyone losing their jobs.
