On one level at least he is honest, but let's face it he is just using the big words to feel better about himself because he only lives trough the actions of others. Politics is not too much different than fandoms if you are just observing from the sides. It's tribalism where you don't even get to steal stuff from the other tribe, but feel good about owning them while "your team" delivers you nothing.

It just occurs to me that being a fanatic -- sports, entertainment, or politics -- removes the last bit of agency of a consoomer. A consoomer has very little agency to start with, because he can't create things and can only derive pleasure from whatever other people pass down on them, but a regular consoomer can at least pick and choose what to consoom, or whether to consoom or not. A fanatic can't.

It all started when he was a kid.

He was a socially awkward geek with just enough autism to care more about dead things than living humans.
Hyper logical and analytical but absolutely clueless when it comes to social ques and emotional intelligence.
Naturally bullying and social ostracization occurs. Becomes an outcast and misses out entirely on all the character building rites of passage that would develop him into a responsible adult. He'd know how to put up with others and co-exist peacefully.

Bobby then goes on to live with his live thinking the future will change for the better. He had hoped his natural traits will be the one which will be appreciated. All those who went up against him in the past would righteously suffer.
He had some limited success on Youtube where he made his "Game Overthinker" series. If only he had stayed on course and improved the show quality along with his health. He might've become successful enough to realize how little high school stage matters. He could find some form of fulfilment and happiness that way. Sadly that did not happen. Like every zero-sum obsessed narcissist, it's never good enough unless you're on top.

Bob is now 40. He does some introspection.
No meaningful friends to fall back on, morbidly obese, no savings, no meaningful property, no trade skills, no love life, no aspirations or dreams. Nothing.

He then checks out his bullies on social media. If he's miserable then surely his enemies (who likely long forgotten about him) suffer more.
Plenty of friends, still sporting six-packs, trust funds, mortgage, trade school diplomas, married with children, productive hobbies focusing effort on creation rather than someone else's creation. Pretty good life.

If anything the profit margin of offering their own direct to consumer services would be greater than cutting in distributors and theaters.

The problem is that ruins the glory and makes accounting fuckery harder.
