Bob’s view of gaming history is hilariously limited to Nintendo products.

This pretty much sums up Bob's gaming history. If you ever look at his videos he is always wearing either a Nintendo related shirt or whenever he mentions good in video games its always a Nintendo game.

That people out there owned something that is not Nintendo related is something that Bob refuses to acknowledge. ZombiU was a classic Amiga game before Ubisoft remade it for the Wii U. Sonic was a Sega console character before he started to appear on other consoles. How many young gamers know of Earthworm Jim? Very little. Does that make them dudebros? Fuck no. It means that they don't know who that character is. I wouldn't be surprised if some of them would like to try his game out.

Also Bob's wishes for amiibo characters is so dumb. I wish plenty of things from the games industry. I wish for a new Earthworm Jim game. I wish for From Software to release Bloodborne on computers. I also wish Eliza from Skullgirls to be my waifu the voice pack for Skullgirls to be available for the pc version. Will I have any of them? Nope, either because of little demand or exclusiveness.

This is the main problem of gaming history. Many of the people behind classic video games are still here and can be interviewed by almost anyone willing to do so. There are actual books about the history of videogames, written by competent authors. But in the end it is the foaming manchildren like Bob, who cannot separate facts from their childhood trauma that get the uneducated audience, because they don't let boring facts get in the way of a Twitter rant.

Bob's problem is that he is incapable of being objective. When talking about things he doesn't have a personal stake in, he's not all that bad. But get him rambling on any topic that he associates with his own history and the inner sperg rises from the deep like some prehistoric monster. From what he has revealed in his TMI magnum opus book, he had a thoroughly miserable childhood that was brought on primarily by his TJ-Church levels of arbitrary refusal to conform. This lead him to cling to his games as one of the few genuine sources of comfort in his early life. The man you see before you is now basically what a somewhat more intelligent and politically-minded Chris-Chan would likely be by now; a fat, perverted, self-deluding champion of all things arbitrarily declared 'awesome' by people who couldn't be convinced to move on by a fleet of bulldozers. I half expect to see pictures of him waving a walking stick at dem darn dirty teenagers with their Halos and their Cods starting to circulate the internet any day now.

Sometimes they'll put pretty random characters in Smash (Pit in Brawl, Ice Climbers was out of the blue, Wii Fit Trainer was pretty weird) but those are all Nintendo owned IPs, if they're gonna go out of their way to pay a company and work with them developing the character for Smash they're probably only gonna go with like, the big big ones people want in (This is how Cloud and Ryu got in) even in Smash polls characters who get the lowest votes are still characters who have/had established games that were popular and fondly remembered (Spyro the dragon was at the bottom) but like the ones that made it to the top are Shovel Knight, Shantae, Wolf and Isaac from Golden Sun. I don't think the Adventure Island series is widely regarded to be classic but instead fondly remembered by like 3 people

Hudson Soft is owned by Konami so the chances of seeing another Hudson Soft game is slim to none.

I'd only know of Adventure island because I had Adventure island 3 for the NES as a kid. As someone say before, Adventure Island was Hudson Soft port of Wonder Boy, the only different is that the wonder boy sequels went with a action rpg gameplay while the adventure island sequels kept the original wonder boy gameplay.

Also His contempt for 1st person shooters while defending gaming culture is completely hypocritical as there's a far larger degree of social interaction directly caused by the success of multi players 1st person shooters than in the previous generations.
