Well, to be fair, people like that in real life absolutely deserve to get their asses kicked, and often do. Unfortunately, instead of having her jaw broken by a costumed hero, she would just get her face bashed in by her drunk boytoy.It's actually one of the most powerful and well done scenes in an otherwise mediocre or fair movie. I was talking with one friend about it (who has experience in such things) and they said they were glad "to see a movie portray birth parents as shitty as you actually see them in the foster care system." That five minutes there hit me harder than just about anything done in a Marvel movie. (You know, if I was capable of feeling emotions, which I can't as a robot.)
Of course all the arrested development kids who can't handle that life is sometimes bittersweet and painful sometimes apparently want a meme of F&F crossing over to beat up the mom for abandoning "family."
