It's nice to see Bob's life summed up so well and so succinctly. If I were Bob, I'd be depressed and take it as a moment of self-reflection. But, as I thank god for everyday, I'm not Moviebob.

As to the MCU items, none of those look any good. Who the fuck wants an Agatha Harkness show? Or Echo? If the slate looks this bad, why would you be demanding more? Demand less, and hopefully they can put some effort into their stuff.

Kevin Feige seems to have forgotten to announce the Hulk-Wolverine 50th Anniversary movie for 2024 starring Hugh Jackman at the Phase Five announcement at SDCC.

But I'm sure this non-announcement is just part of Feige's masterplan. It's likely a Late 2024 release so he's going to keep it secret a little while longer while it films.

How cool would it be if just before the 2024 election he announced it with "and the movie's out today for anyone who votes Democrat"? Trump and Warner Bros would have no idea what to do.
How... how are they going to do Secret Invasion? Especially after making the Skrulls misunderstood victims?

I like how literally everywhere I look, people are complaining about Marvel Studios announcing that each Phase will now last a year and they're going to be pumping out more trash but Bob? Bob is demanding even more to consoom. He's really built different. Not even your average MCU shills had this reaction to the news.

I saw some admittingly more rational MCU shills noting how the name dropping of future Avengers movies at some point in the future as the amazingly cynical thing it is, but I'm sure Bob's salivating at more fan fiction to "predict" until the titles are announced in a few years which will give him more fan fiction to "predict" based on them while ignoring all his previous predictions.

Not saying there aren't probably millions of people like Bob who can't wait to watch all the garbage to find "clues" to these Avengers movies but it's starting to feel like Endgame really was the end of the MCU being a mass market thing. Not that there's anything wrong with that, it might even improve the quality, but it'll make Bob's pronouncements that things like WandaVision were major cultural moments when like 2 million people total streamed it funnier.

It's just some short Disney+ series where Nick Fury teams up with some Good Skrulls to stop Bad Skrulls or something. It's taking the name and a few elements from the comic story but doesn't really sound like it has much to do with the actual comic story.

@Positron You’re assuming that Bob isn’t egotistical enough to browse the thread solely because he can’t stand that it exists. People have brought up the similarities of Bob and Patrick Tomlinson, if Fatrick reads his thread you know Bob has, at the very least, looked at this thread sometime in the last 4 years.
I've often found Bob is similar to Ethan Ralph - in many ways, Bob is the "socially acceptable" version of Ethan Ralph - and it's well known that Ethan Ralph reads (and seethes about) the threads in his subforum.

Poorly.

The only thing I really want from Marvel is a great Fantastic Four movie, and I have literally no faith in that anymore.
More Daredevil, because gotta scrape what little value you can out of one of the only Marvel shows that people actually like.
And Thunderbolts, which only one of the original members has been introduced into the MCU and whose first appearance in the comics was so brilliant because it was a complete bait and switch. This new hero team that you just read about were secretly the masters of evil. I'm sure this will just be the MCU trying to do the Suicide Squad.

I think we might actually see the death of the MCU before the middle of the decade in that scenario. That gets said all the time but I mean for real. They can't shrink that much even if Disney tries to keep it alive just because of how much these cost to make. Comics can survive niche status just because printing paper is probably one of the cheapest visual medium out there. The MCU being niche means it loses all the theoretical appeal and just becomes a really shitty series for manchildren who can't even read picture books.

There's a lot of people that label would apply to but still wouldn't be enough to pump out half billion dollar projects every month or two.

Robert can't stop being amazed by Hollywood producer's balls, just drop to you knees and start sucking Robert if they are that impressive.

Sodomy aside, what is supposed to be so impressive here? Is it that they are using Kang, a D lister villain from avengers? (FF? I can't say I remember this guy and I ain't gonna wiki him) Or the fact that they are using secret wars as in "OMG, I RECOGNIZE THIS NAME!! IT IS THE THING I'VE SEEN PEOPLE TALK ABOUT!!!".

Because really, none if it means anything. In this age of manufactured hype, Disney could announce that the fucking Power Pack is going to lead the MCU phase whatever and retards like Robert here would be twitting about the continental size of Feige's dick.

Not to mention, the MCU and comics have parted ways a long time ago, why should I get even interested on secret wars by the name alone if none of it will have anything to do with a live action adaptaion of the comic I've read, so what's the point if all they have in common are just the character's names?

And look, I don't mean to poop on anyone's party, if people like the MCU and are happy to see more movies, power to them I say, and I'm not gonna act as if this shit is going to kill culture or western cinema, honestly, after Endgame when I stopped watching the marvel stuff, I found it is surprisingly easy to ignore it, there is plenty of other shit to waste you time on.

But this hype man act Robert puts on, it just embarrassing, fuck your marvel theories and fuck you, this fake ass excitment for product because said product is the only reason on why people have any interest on what you have to say.

But, nah, whatever right Robert? Please tell us all how the next Black Panther movies is going to be the greatest thing for civil right in north america despise the fact that there is no black Panther on it, because even Kevin Feige's huge balls were not big enough to have a character re-cast.

Everything about the modern MCU is basically Disney's multi-billion commitment to Disney+ that they promised, they said they were going to use every division to lose billions on selling Disney+ by 2025. I'm not sure it's going to work, the ratings on these Disney+ MCU series have been terrible. If they don't keep churning out Disney+ content even many of these MCU fans aren't going to keep paying for it even if they aren't watching it anyway.

I actually don't know anything about what Disney+ actually offers so I have no idea if they're putting out other content, like Netflix and Amazon have poured their money into filling with international content and so on, has Disney? I assume Disney will always make money on actual kids and parents paying for their kids, but the assumption was that those Avengers billions were ripe for the plucking to get people to Disney+ for the long term. But most people I see talking about the MCU stuff were already in that niche and aren't "normies" who had to get Disney+ to keep up, they seem content to just catch a few of the movies like they did for Spider-Man. Infinity War/Endgame worked because they had primed the pump for a decade first, you only had to have seen a few of those movies in the decade before and then watch the two new ones.

The problem with electric tractors is that the largest ones on the market top out at 100hp(horsepower), which is okay for doing small stuff, but you aren't pulling a feed truck out of the mud. They're no where near enough to do all the work a large farm needs, a big tractor goes up to 600hp. Not to mention during work you want to be running your machinery as much as possible, not stopping to go charge up the battery.

The ease of which Bob is impressed by this shit will never not be funny. I have to wonder if at this point it's just performative - as a "media critic" and an "influencer," he's expected to get excited and flap his arms for the next Marvel movie. I'm getting the sense most people have been over this crap since Endgame.

Also, who honestly wants a MCU Fantastic Four movie when the three last ones weren’t well received?

But I feel Bob and his ilk are latching onto the MCU a lot more longer so the X-Men can finally join the MCU.

I'm starting to think the time for that to happen was a about 10 years ago. The X-Men franchise outside of Deadpool has been run into the ground, and no one really cares.

Audiences would've gone wild over seeing Hugh Jackman's Wolverine, Sir Patrick Stewart's Professor X, and Halle Berry's Storm interacting with the mainline Avengers cast. Post-Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix, though? Who cares?

Kinda I guess?

Like I said, if you just want to ignore the MCU shit, it is pretty easy, and it ain't like I'm going out of my way to avoid it, but really, the only time I engage with this shit is on this very thread.

So I would say the cultural reach the MCU had is wanning, maybe. I'm sure it is still making a boatload of money and the fans seem happy, but I guess the Normies have either moved one or are just watching out of inertia, you know, when a singer who hasn't had a hit in years, but still can sell some albums because of the name recognition? Same deal I guess.

The annoying thing about giving a shit about the "success" about a multi-billion dollar movie franchise is that now you are either a cuck sucking mouse cock like Robert here who tweets about producer's balls, or retards like Nerdrotic that keep claiming that the "M_SHE_U is dying, Hollywood sucks" and yet those movies are still making money.

And yeah, I know both sides are just saying the shit that will get them the tribal viewrship they need to make cash, but genuine or not, giving a actual fuck if some capeshit movie makes money or not is beyond stupid, and while I think it is funny to see Robert virtually liking balls on twitter, I have no patience for the Maulers and Nerdrotics of the internet, who start bitching the second they see some skinny chick throwing a punch on these shitty movies.

Yes, progressive Hollywood is stuck up on their asses so much everybody can smell their farts, but you don't have to become a bitch as well, at least change the fucking track you hacks, or what? you need to be like quarterpound and spend a year doing nothing but bitching about that chick who played Captain Marvel?

Especially since Logan killed off Hugh Jackman's Wolverine and Patrick Stewart's Professor X, those two (along with Ian McKellen) aren’t around to carry the franchise on their back. You can say what you want about the X-Men movies, but Jackman and Stewart always brought it to their roles despite the material they had to work with, and their absence in both Post-Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix definitely reflected the quality of those two films.

Fantastic Four on the other hand seems to be a property that you might think might work on film but ultimately can’t be done on film. The last three movies Fox made failed to make the material worked because it was never meant to work on film. I would prefer to see the Fantastic Four on television since you wouldn’t have to cram tons of material into a two hour film.

But that’s just me, I’m not some mindless corporate shill like DisneyBob.

Even if you did bring Stewart back as Charles Xavier and try to use "The Multiverse ™️ " as an explanation (like they did with Dr. Strange recently), his age and declining health has really become a serious factor, he no longer has the same vocal command and presence that he used to. Go check out the "Patrick Stewart Narrates The Planets" video I currently have posted at the top of my profile, and compare how he sounds there to how he sounds in the past two seasons of Picard.

With the Fantastic Four, part of the problem from what I understand is that they're not really a team of superheroes per se - they're more a team of highly skilled scientists that happened to get superpowers. They'll occasionally go on superhero-esque outings or will work with other superheroes, but their main focus is on Star Trek-style scientific problem solving. So with that in mind, it's possible that the Fantastic Four might actually work better as a TV or streaming series rather than as a traditional big budget superhero movie.

That’s too cerebral for Bob to process. He wants quippy one liners and colorful explosions while numbers go up.

The two times they tried to do that with the Fantastic Four it flopped. I guess Bob will say either they were "too ahead of their time!" (they were pre-MCU) or "the audiences didn't support the movies hard enough!"

The only reason I personally pay any attention to it is other people I know and it's sadly borderline unavoidable if you're into actual comicbooks. It's not even like I'm a cynical old guy who can't move on, I'm a zoomer who hates watching one of his interests get worn like a skin suit. Comic communities I've been in actually considered quaranting MCU fans since they tend to be like locusts and ruin any discussion they jump into. It's usually because they tend to have this bizarro elitism about only liking secondary material and then cry about gatekeeping when they're told to fuck off. I'm still not entirely sure where those views comes from.

I unironically believe things can start to get better post-MCU since all the people who only see it as a gateway into Hollywood will eventually go away and focus can finally be put into actually improving the medium. People always get cynical about fixing things but they're still very much possible as long as you have people who care.
