I tried watching his Batman v. Superman review. I turned it off five minutes in, maybe less. Does he stop for breath at any point in the review? Jesus shitballs.

I stopped when he actually mused that someone watching it, if highly placed enough, might figure out how to avoid this film's missteps when making future blockbuster movies.

I take back everything I said about his cynicism. He's genuinely delusional.

Usually when you see 20% more or less either way, you have real problems with critics and audience with something genuinely missing with either the critics or audience aren't getting. In the later years, I am more on the side of the audience anymore as I have been fooled by fresh ratings as well as rotten with me starting to believe that RT must have some degree of bias in how it rates its positive or negative aggregators. Bob will always be on the side of critics simply because he believes that you have to go to school to understand film which is simply childish and petty.

A fair amount of critics these days have an undeserved sense of superiority, hence the disconnect. The South Park episode (just to piss of Bob) about Yelp! reviewers covered it pretty well.

I have actually read articles that have actually tried to say that RT doesn't really influence movie sales and then it just doesn't feel right as why would commercials then go to tell that score or literally print it on the box like "Yeah its the stuff right here."

It's not just that but a disconnect between the folks who see maybe a dozen movies a week as their job, vs those who see one a week as recreation.

Heck I see this just between myself - who loves scifi & fantasy and watches a lot of it - vs those who just catch the latest Star Wars or Star Trek when it comes out.

Of course those Oscar winners can have their own repeating tropes so it's not like they're as original as people might think...
