Yup. Absolutely, as it contrasts with "Internationally famous childrens' entertainer can't fathom buying a dog you can't carry" in the context Bob uses the "Footprints" thing. For context:Is that what his take was? I honestly thought it was "Hello person. People that Believe in SkyDad are dubm. I smrt."
So yeah, Fatbob thinks dogs too big to carry can carry people in the manner of Jesus/Skydaddy, only they're "real", whereas Bob is convinced Skydaddy doesn't reals. But yeah, he's also taking a dig at people who believe in Skydaddy too. He's just thinking he's clever substituting a dog too big to carry for Jesus/God in the footprints thing.
Just to sperg a bit more on Bob's ridiculous "Care Bears Paradise Lost" fanfic pitch, that's got to be one of the stupidest concepts I've ever seen. I mean, I know in TV/Movies, pitches often go like "It's this, but with that and some other thing". Take "Battlestar Galactica" (1978 ) for instance. Westerns were popular for many years before that, so the pitch was "Wagon Train To the Stars", to convince producers and studio execs to go for it. They even got Bonanza star Lorne Greene for it. Sometimes shit like that, works.
But Care Bears into Paradise Lost? With Grumpy Bear as Satan/Lucifer? Even accepting the premise that Grumpy Bear is correct that trying to make people happy all the time is neither actually ideal nor wanted (narcissistic forced positivity and associated abuse is a thing after all), the idea the the Cloudkeeper, standing in for Sky Daddy, couldn't figure that out is ridiculous. I know Bob's concept of God/Sky Daddy is a huge strawman gleaned from fellow Fedora-Tippers, even if his weasel-out of "atheism" is basically "It's not Atheism if God doesn't ackshually exist". And it's less a spiritual struggle here than it is Bob deciding, wearing the Grumpy Bear skinsuit, to play Therapist (which Satan in PL was most certainly NOT trying to do) to the "I'm unhappy and I like it that way" Goth Chick. SO this is less "Care Bears meets Paradise Lost" but more "Care Bears Meets Prince of Tides and a bit of What About Bob and minor references to Paradise Lost", if you ask me. Which kinda makes sense given Bob's background of early therapy, which he deliberately sabotaged because even back then he thought he R SMRT and figured that "outsmarting" the shrink gave him a W instead of the biggest fattest fucking L in his life.
