How will Bob react to seeing the Mario film?

Your close, but not quite there yet. You see there are two facts about bob. The First simple fact is: Bob HATES his enemies the "Dudebros," or whatever else he may called them. It's not so much that he doesn't like Tomb Raider and more likely he hates that the "Dudebros" that like Tomb Raider, that made it popular, and that caused it to get 2 Live-action movies (now 3 movies with a 4th one on the way). He makes constant references to those "Dudebro assholes" in his videos. If Lara Croft debuted on the N64 instead of the PS1 Bob would've praised and slobbered all over it. While the "Dudebros" has slowly morphed over the years into the "Mayo Ghouls," the idea stays the same: Bob hates what they like.

The second fact is that Bob Hates Change. Game Overthinker Episode 4 goes into deeper detail on why he hates PS1 and the people who play them. It mostly has to with "Jocks" and "Cool Kids" were appropriating his video games' "Nerd Culture" and mutilating it into the culture for "Hardcore Gamers," which is another group of people he constantly derides and bemoans in his videos. Also, allow me to bring up this choice quote and picture from the same episode:

"The first time the world ended it was a mixed bag. Yeah, I miss SEGA, the real SEGA everyday..." -MovieBob

Both me and you can easily bring up many more examples of Bob reacting super emotional, positive or negative, whenever something happens to his beloved childhood franchises. It's not just that he hates that the PS1 stole Nintendo's thunder, Bob overall just hates that time's stony clock keeps moving forward and leaves his most favorite things (his toys) to rot in the past.

I mean when Bob directly addresses Mr. Miyamoto as GOD I don't blame you for saying that. In Game Overthinker episode 7, Bob likens Nintendo itself as place that LITTERALY KEEPS HIS CHILDHOOD ALIVE. And we know it's not a metaphor or a joke or anything because thebetchloff podcast brought in a person who personally knew Bob before Game Overthinker. Said person then tells us that Episode 7 is mostly based of a dream/religious vision Bob once had and actually believes to be real.
Bob has a lot of anger from his childhood to get out. Therapist. ASAP.

Who is Bob without Video Games?
Internet?

Is there a void of fear there we want god save us from?

The problem is with attachment to identity.
Just let it go, Bob. Ultimately we make our own misery. A lesson i learned when I watched The Last Jedi the first time. It was a terrible burden of pain to see something I saw as a complete story with an ending that implied an open future, be taken over and taken away by corporate overlords who wanted it to be something else for someone else.

The thing I learned by "letting go" is that Star Wars itself isnt important to me. Thr important part is what it means. I remember people I met and hung out with who also were into it. It represents a lot of values, dreams, aspirations, and the history of its fans childhoods all wrapped up in one thing. Thats why fandoms are seen by cynics as cargo cults.

The funny thing is Yoda, the wise man/good wizard archetype told the audience not to be attached. to not fear loss or mourn it. Celebrate and rejoice in "the force". He says this because attachment brings pain and can lead to the "dark side" like Anakin wishing to save Padme.
Aka science fiction buddhism.

Are fans learning the lesson or are they just wanting the good times to never end?

Its too bad that instead of drawing creative water from the fountain of our youth by looking at our favorite old stories and media for inspiration, we try to keep them going decades later.

If you love something and it is gone you have to let it go. You will always have the memory and the impulse to go back again. And the best part is that creatives get to create new versions of the old things they care about. This is what modern media lacks and its because the consoomer cant stop buying the same thing over and over looking for something that is in the past.

Let it go Bob. Find something new. You're not your fandom. You're not your job. You're not your fuckin khakis.

This is one of Bob's most amazing qualities: simply inventing unbelievable, laughable explanations for the shortcomings of things he likes and then having an emotional reaction to a story he just made up in his head.
This is truly seminary-level Believerism.

This is a capitalist society, so you ARE your job, or more specifically your bank account, but that said...

John Lennon said it more concisely; Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

TANGENT:
As far as Samus goes, she was always presented as a tough chick in everything but comedy manga after the release of the first game. Even the Nintendo Power NES era Captain N comics depicted her as a tough warrior woman, who also really wanted the Captain's D.

View attachment 2614116

And the Super Metroid comic which is actually pretty well done shows her as a badass as well.
In recent years, I've imagined a Metroid game featuring a "harder than hard" difficulty setting, in which Samus wears the famous NES space leotard/knee-high boot outfit throughout the campaign, the script aims for a more comedic angle with self-awareness of the game's tropes, and Samus' personality balances her tough-as-nails personality with that of post-high-school anime girl. My title for this is Serious Samus [rimshot]. Screaming, headless kamikazes not included.

END TANGENT.

This seems like just such an insane and/or autistic thing to say to me: why on earth would Bob assume that the "Jocks" and "Cool Kids" of that era didn't have Nintendo systems themselves when they were growing up? I mean it was the most popular selling console for years for God's sake. In the late 1980's, video games and "Nintendo" were synonymous. The NES and playing games wasn't some niche subculture that only a few "nerd" kids experienced, it was one of the most mainstream fucking things out there.

This absolute donkey.

Those onions look like they were cut by someone who just had their first time holding a knife. The onions clearly are not caramelized. That broth looks absolutely flavorless. Swanson beef broth shit. Add some herbs and pepper to that fucker. And whats with the pasta? Did he not make enough on Patreon to afford a fucking baguette and some gruyere?

The PS1 did change something about video game demographics. But it wasn't "Jocks" and "Cool Kids" it was age. The 15-25 demographic came back to video games full time and the 25+ demographic became regular gamers for the first time. And those people have never "outgrown" video games.

"Cool Kids" is harder to disprove as it's a more nebulous term, but as for "Jocks" regarding the 8/16-bit era I can disprove the point by naming only four games: Tecmo Bowl, Madden, NHL, NBA Jam.

I wish more people would bring this fact up to others who scream how "Communist" we're supposedly becoming.

Anyway, keep up the Lovecraft style bigotry about us non-New England bluebloods, Bobby, it's making my theory that much more solid.

As someone who semi-regularly caramelizes onions in my cooking, Chris' soup made me throw up a little in my mouth. It really isn't that hard to do. It simply takes time to get them to the right color and flavor.
OH FUCK, I just now looked at this. Bob you yankee son of a bitch, the mountain dew cooking wasn't fucking enough, was it?!

So Robert calls this dude a "scumbag" and "bad [person]" and an "a**hole" and a "toxic person" based on what? It's just some Twitter shitposter with a probably terrible podcast. Does he mean all that because the guy wouldn't get vaccinated? Because none of those are how I would describe someone refusing to get vaccinated. You could say "stupid" or "ignorant" or whatever, none of which makes any claims as to the persons basic moral values, just their decision making. But Robert doesn't do this, not once does he call into question their decision making, in fact, he literally says "meh" to this idea. No, no, actually, he says "GOOD" to this. That their decision making is appropriate because they're morally deficient. But like, Robert probably didn't even know this dude existed until Peter tweeted about it and I'm betting he probably didn't even skim the guys account like I did to see what kind of poster he was. So what exactly is his "progressive" reasoning here?

I will join Robert though. I will make a moral determination based on someone's decision making. And based on the decision making Robert employs in what he decides to tweet about, he's a fundamentally vile person claiming that he's a moral void who doesn't harm people simply because he has no power and never will. (Also he's blatantly a pussy.)

There is a major difference between Moviebob's opinions and Coffin's opinions: One actually shows a sense of empathy and human decency; the other comes from Moviebob.

Bobby is betting on the Right Side of History.
Quite literally the ONLY way Moviebob will ever be on the "right side of history" is if the word history is writen in 24-inch-tall letters on a wall and Bob's dead acts as a period. Bob has rarely, if ever, been on the correct side of any political issue since... when did he first post on Twitter?

Ironic that Moviebob would consider this a bad thing, given his support of people assaulting his political opponents.

You say being decent to people costs nothing but at the same time what's forcing you to be the toxic asshole eh Bob? Hypocrite.

This is ironic of Bob because he was a big defender of the casual gaming rising that came after the success of Nintendo DS and Wii then later mobile. He would tell people to get over it and accept that not all games appeal to them. Which is true but I don't think Bob ever got over the dudebros getting into gaming. It all seems like projection to him to get angry at dudebros getting angry at casuals.
You gotta remember Bob Chipman is a Nintendrone at heart where they all believe daddy Miyamoto can do no wrong, so of course the Wii and DS turning little kids into future nintendie consoomers like Bob is obviously a good thing you Snoy boy, you CoD kiddie, you Madden moron, you FPSpecial Ed, you hardcor- I'm done.

This seems like just such an insane and/or autistic thing to say to me: why on earth would Bob assume that the "Jocks" and "Cool Kids" of that era didn't have Nintendo systems themselves when they were growing up? Remember, Bob is an tribal, elitist prick that self-identifies as an 80s nerd culture guru. And another thing to remember is that in Bob's own words: "the bleeding heart of videogaming was a determined kid alone in his room, no light say for the glow of the TV, where upon he was guiding a heroic avatar through the legions of evil because the princess MUST BE SAVED! Not a bunch of douchebags grunting at each other playing Madden in the fucking living room." -Game Overthinker v4 6:14

I can almost guarantee this is supposed to be a RL picture of Bobby boy as a kid.

Lol, Bob you fat stupid subhuman waste of oxygen, the bleeding heart of videogaming was established nearly a decade earlier by two stoners laughing as they played digital ping-pong with each other on a shitty TV set.

Hell, fucking James Rolfe himself pointed out in one of his earliest AVGN videos that the image that most immediately gets associated with the term "video game" was someone playing an old Atari game on a joystick, not a kid being mesmerized by the story of an Italian plumber eating mushrooms and saving a princess from a bunch of turtles.

Metroid is potentially my favorite gaming franchise, it's certainly my favorite Nintendo franchise. It's always been niche, and was for a long time a pet project within Nintendo rather than a franchise they took seriously. That's how Retro Studios got Metroid in the first place, Nintendo didn't care about it enough to not let those filthy uncultured Americans work on it directly.

Lara Croft at one point was one of the biggest and most recognizable celebrities in the English-speaking world. And she wasn't real.

There's no comparison.
And most people didn't take Metroid very seriously until Metroid Prime. Metroid was just one of the "other" Nintendo franchises. It was better known than the marketing disaster that was Earthbound but I mean Lara Croft was advertising cars and showing up in U2's live show.

And a lot of gamejourno hacks love to beat the "it only sold well because she had big tits" drum but Tomb Raider and by extension Lara plenty of female fans that just saw her as a cool badass adventure hero.

I feel like the entire "jocks" and "cool kids" thing is just his way of covering up the real reason why he is this upset: this is when Nintendo started getting outdone at every angle. I can't find it, but I remember someone posting in this thread a couple years back an archive of an old webpage Bob ran. He admitted on that page that he liked FPS shooters like Duke Nukem and Quake.

The reason why he changed his tune was watching Nintendo suddenly going to crap during the fifth generation. Suddenly it was falling behind as more game changing systems arrived. Plus you have the fact that all those gritty games like the FPS genre started jumping from being PC exclusives to also dominating on consoles. Which is what the Nintendo 64 ended up being known for. Not all the games belonging to Bob's beloved Nintendo properties like Mario. Instead it was its library of gritty FPS games. Or other violent games like ports from the Mortal Kombat franchise.

Bob at the end of the day is angry at the fact that everything that once existed side by side with Nintendo was suddenly now overtaking it.
