Both are just different ways of expressing the same thing, letting go is an acknowledgement of the incoercible advance of time, to "live in the past" is to futiley deny it as such. Which is really at the heart of what makes Bob so repulsive and nasty:

He thinks he's too good for death.

Literal cosmic arrogance, and no matter how he tries to hide it, cloak it as virtue or at least make it more digestible to the public, that "meaty" center of his ideology always shines through:

His own mortality is uniquely unjust among humanity as a whole, forward and backward through time.

But unlike any other healthy and rational person who also, presumably, would rather not die, he feels that somehow, without commensurate achievements to humanity , he DESERVES it not.

We all have the selfish desire to keep living, but at least we can recognize it as such and try to find a productive outlet for that stress. Religion, work, a hobby, a relationship, etc. Something other than sitting at home and stewing.

I think that's the fundamental building block that gives human achievement intrinsic value, "you knew you had only a limited number of working days, and this is what you chose to do when all life-sustaining tasks were met? It obviously meant something"

Bob? he seems unable to come to grips with it in any way that doesn't turn into (unwarranted) righteous fury, not at the Universe or God, per se, but at the common man who's somehow to blame.

In fact, THAT'S what makes him such an insufferable person.

He's not just pissed he's gonna die someday, he's pissed YOU, personally, aren't doing anything about it....
Given this is Moviebob we're talking about, I give neither a damn nor a fuck about halping him achieve his Superiaa Fyuuchaa.

Bob is the best living example of the fact that a limitless supply of entertainment breeds twisted and joyless people.

I saw a sign at an indoor amusement park in a shopping mall earlier this week that made me think of Bob. It said something like this:

If you're always being entertained, you no longer know when you're having fun and when you're not. It is important to just be bored sometimes.
This was the plot of an episode of 30 Rock. If you have too fun too often, the pleasure center of your brain slowly grows a tolerance to it until you get to the point where you need absurdly high levels of stimulation to excite yourself or you have to slowly wean yourself back to normal.

That works with almost everything. Just look at the coomers who need to jack off 3 or 6 times a day just to feel the bliss of cooming constantly and it reaches the point that they start delving into ever more degenerate shit just because they need stronger stimulation. This is why moderation is a virtue with a big reward: you hold yourself back from indulgement and you still can enjoy the small pleasures of life.

I suppose this applies to food as well. That could explain why Bob's "average size meals" could feed an entire football team.

To a certain degree, it is. Your sense of appetite adapts to how much food you eat and how oftenly you eat. You can essentially make it grow or curb it by eating more or less, or even by skipping meals your body would eventually adapt so long you have enough nourishment and you don't do a lot of physical activity.

We know Bob is flabby as an inflatable toy with no air, so if he just put the effort he would be able to slowly curb his apetite. But in the same way you can't ask a stone to spare a little blood, you cannot ask an old Robert to take in new habits.

So people who've seen The Eternals, do you think it is very Snyderesque?

The term for it is the hedonism treadmill.

They didn't mention it because it's not politically correct, but I'd wager that the "homophobic crowd" at the theatre was mostly black.
That's a given.

I'm just astonished I live in a time where people can see the promo with a bunch of fags wearing colorful spandex costumes on the beach and the immediate reaction isn't, "LOL, is this Homo Island?"

Bobby goes philosophical about The Eternals's impending box-office bomb:

Turns out one of Bobby's favorite movies is inspired by one of the worst movies that ever movied.

Bobby loves to claim he can see things from a mile off:

Bobby has so much insights he wants to share with the world, but he has to be a gentleman and refrain from spoilers.

Blasphemy!

More people are sick of MCU in general and The Eternals in particular (Very short review at Letterboxd). Bobby teaches you how to appreciate the genius of MCU "at the macro level" and to take apart "the Schrodinger plot point":
plot1.png
So what Bobby means by "Schrodinger plot point" seems to be this: you don't know whether this minutiae is a one-off joke, or a germ of something momentously important, you won't know until much later, so you'd better consoom everything. I doubt his "analysis" would please Small Robots.

Hollywood Reporter article. Oh BTW, that furry-butt-with-wing shit in Chinky Capeshit failed to catch on as Bobby assured.

Boring pseudo-Vangelis score (not that the real Vangelis has been cool since the 90s)

Bobby is still on that flying tombstone; he even made an gif.

Let's give a hand to these two geniuses.

I dunno, I reckon no matter how many "real problems" they face (can Bobby name any examples?), responsible parents would step up and demand answers if they find out schools teach their kids to hate their sex and race.

Those pesky Christofascists again! And I don't realize there has been so many "insurrections" in America recently.

I don't know much about the "Posterity Gospel", but even if such mindset existed, it was 100 years and several big wars past. Any of its lingering influences cannot be a mainstream American Protestant ethos.

Don't question Bobby's lived experience of the Catholic Church.

American workers are earning more money and have higher spending power (archive of NYT article. It is trashy to be sure but not for the reasons Bobby suggests), but it must be a Republican lie because People Who Matter, like Lass_Library and Luke Lockhart, stay unemployed:

I would honestly like to see how Bob thinks the Catholic church is a Capitalist entity. There would probably be a word salad and some extreme reach involved in it, because i sure as hell cannot see how the church, in all of its long standing existance, is capitalist. If anything, judaism is far more capitalist than catholicism because money lending was forbidden for catholics.

Whoever thinks that Black Widow is "for women", I gotta say, that might be the most misogynistic thing I ever heard. The heroine literally smashes her head on a desk so hard as to sever a nerve, on the advice of someone who sold her out probably not even an hour before in the film. Its a very stupid film, released well past its window, and it either retcons in a bunch of nonsense (Nat not saving her adoptive sister because she just figured her sister would figure it out) and has the lamest twists (wow Taskmaster is a lady! Literally everyone guessed that!).

Also, comparing the Eternals to the Nephilim in the Old Testament? Bob's bringing the deep cuts for this film! Wait, who or what are the Nephilim?

"When men began to multiply on the face of the ground, and daughters were born to them, the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were fair; and they took to wife such of them as they chose. Then the LORD said, “My spirit shall not abide in man for ever, for he is flesh, but his days shall be a hundred and twenty years.” The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men, and they bore children to them. These were the mighty men that were of old, the men of renown" - Genesis 6

"We saw the Nephilim there (the descendants of Anak come from the Nephilim). We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them." - Numbers 13

Now, its a vague term because I believe those are literally the only two times its used. And if you noticed it means next to nothing in the context of Eternals (maybe that they see regular people as grasshoppers? Bit of a stretch). The only way I could see the connection working is if Bob was taking his idea of them from the Aronofsky film Noah, where they basically act like guardian angels, that defend Noah from the tribes trying to attack the ark. They are fallen and are then redeemed.

I love when people reference great works and clearly don't know them.

Eternals isn't a hit. It is currently tracking for an 70M domestic opening weekend and has mixed to negative word of mouth. It is under-performing projections. It has a B Cinemascore which puts it on part with Batman v. Superman and Catwoman.

Bob is confusing "not a complete flop first weekend" with "critics put out the hit, but Audiences loved it."

Oh no, there are times where Bob's stupidity is out of dishonesty. See, because Marvel is a psychological pin for him for basically no reason other than "Nerd like comic, but can't like batman because one republican recommended it", he needs to bullshit stuff. Otherwise he'll legit fucking kill himself, he swears.

So he uses the arguments from the chuds he sees as terrible because Bob doesn't think beyond now or 30 minutes from now.

Oh, believe me: There's a fat, fascistic film fan from the Boston area who is long overdue to be chucked into a garbage bin and relegated to the landfill of history...

Because, as we all know, as per Moviebob's own Twitter history, the only religious practicioners who qualify as Thinkers™ all attend mosques.

Pointing out:
  1. Before the COVID-19 fiasco, the economy under Donald Trump was actually doing rather well.
  2. Moviebob claims the "GQP" are inflating the supply-chain shortage, but he and the Dems have OVER-inflated the COVID-19 pandemic over a disease with a 99% survival rate!
  3. The only people who genuinely believe Christmas is better under Fuckwit in Chief Biden are people who so bady overdosed on and poisoned by blue pills, the "Still Ridin' with Biden" crowd will literally never wake up to reality.
  4. Moviebob doesn't--and should never again--qualify as a person. Bob may be a sentient entity, maybe, but there's no fucking way I will ever classify him as a "person".

Another scandal involving United Airlines. They damaged the wheelchair of someone with spinal injury. The victim was forced to use a wheelchair that did not fit, which worsened her pressure sores and caused a deep, eventually fatal infection.

I don't believe Moviebob's sympathies for one nanosecond. Given his Twitter history, Bob would be laughing his ass off if this fellow who died here was of the MAGA mindset.

Agreed, "subtracting Nazi stuff" is the exact reason why Moviebob's Twitter accounts should have been nuked from orbit years ago.

Now, [Nephilim] a vague term because I believe those are literally the only two times its used.
There is a very cryptic passage in 1 Peter 3:19 that recounts Jesus preaching to "spirits in prison". Some people have interpreted such "spirits" to be either rebellious angels and/or the Nephilims. No one can say for sure, and I doubt the exact identity matters much anyway. It only came to my mind because we had Bible study group on 1 and 2 Peter a few months ago.

I don't know much about the "Posterity Gospel", but even if such mindset existed, it was 100 years and several big wars past. Any of its lingering influences cannot be a mainstream American Protestant ethos.
"Prosperity" Gospel, actually. God wants you to have a sports car. One of televangelist grifts, and a relatively recent one as televangelism goes I believe. Makes me think of Joel Osteen but I'm not sure if it's because it's his shtick or because he came on the scene about the same time as it did; I admit, I don't pay close attention.

Dammit Bobby... how are you this bad at your job...

As someone who just recently learned about and studying old Testament stuff, you have no idea how badly I'm fighting an urge to sperg out. Let's just say Robert here is as wrong as he ever is and has no idea what anything is like "old Testament nephilim" and is completely talking out of his fat, wide ass.1

Screenshot_20211107-124502_Brave.jpg

Fun fact which of course Robert doesn't know or mention, but for a period of time it was a running gag that both companies were fiction in each other. So in DC's universe they had Marvel comics, and in Marvel's universe, they had DC comics.

YOU DUMB ASS. EVERYTHING THERE IS WRONG.
