The fact that the Sonic movie changed the design, the fact it's successful, and the fact people like it more than the Mario movie makes me laugh in how much it makes Bob seethe. I can't wait for his rage videos when the sequel comes out.

However, the MCU isn’t going to touch on the Phoenix Force while the box office flop that was X-Men: Dark Phoenix is still in recent memory so this is another wild guess from Bob based on comic continuity that the MCU doesn’t adhere to.

The entire Karoka era of the X-Men is unlike anything X-Men. It's a bizarre fantasy land lead by prophets and entertaining ritualistic fights to the death between mutants.
X-Men had their share of shitty comics but nothing felt as "Fantasy Land fanfiction featuring mutants" as the pile of garbage published by Marvel in the last decade. Its depressing really.

If he has then he doesn't care or think about it.

But then, he doesn't really watch that many movies tbh, other than blockbusters, capeshit, kaiju, and a rare foreign film to pretend he's cultured. Even then I don't think he pays any attention to them at all.

And sure, turning off the brain is fun. But then he tries to pretend he actually used that film degree and this newest forgettable trash is in fact the next Die Hard or some other noted genre film. A true film made by the auteur.

I'm an animation sperg, so I know a thing or two about animation, including the 3D kind.

When you create 3D animation, the actual model itself cannot move (except for physics-based animation, or sliding around like SCP-173.) To make a model move its arms, legs, and such, you need to rig the model. Simply put, the model is a meat body, and the rig is the skeleton that allows the model to move. Incidentally, this is how skins in video games work: the model itself is switched out, while the rig (and animations done with that rig) are left.

With Sonic the Hedgehog, all the animators needed to do is create a new Sonic model and hook it up to the old rig. Even the facial animations could be redone like this (and if they couldn't, it'd be easy to do motion capture again.) The fix is simple and probably took all of a month or two to implement. 3D animators are lazy, and many 3D animation tutorials are simply tutorials on how to get the computer to do the work for you. If the movie was halfway done when the change was ordered, even better: replace the old model in the shots you finished, and use the new one in the unfinished shots.

Bob doesn't give two shits about the animation industry, particularly given his boner for the Marvel CGI Universe. He's just looking for an excuse to attack the Sonic movie.

The first 3 x-men movies from 2000s were the most accessible. They can't MCU-ify it without taking away what makes it marketable: being a school-age fantasy for teenagers and manchildren. The setting is what it has going for it most of all.

Trouble is, what with Wakanda, Eternals, wizards, magic kung-fu, and so on, Earth is getting pretty fucking crowded. I don't think that they can pull off the "hated and feared" shit at this point, since the Avengers already did this plotline, and did it better.
