Bob does this thing where he says that something terrible and stupid would be good for things he doesn't like.
We know he doesn't like Villeneuve, cause Denis makes films that look gorgeous, are brooding, and epic scale. His work makes the MCU looks like a television show. I've never heard ANYONE say that those hand drawn, rotoscoped shields from the 1984 movie look better than the new shields. ESPECIALLY normies. My girl laughed when she saw them the first time.
What other "recent stuff" has shields that turn red when they're defeated? Halo or something?
On top of that, the new shields actually convey taking damage properly because of how they shift into being red. Its cost effective, and serves the story.

You can go and watch the Star Wars commentary tracks and listen to George explain how much he cared about showing things that had to do with lore.
What do these people think midichlorians were? Why do they think George wanted to make prequels anyway? To explain backstory...as in the lore?
Why'd he make Bioware change the time period that KOTOR took in? Why'd he make an entire television series dedicated exclusively to the clone wars?
Why'd he merchandise everything? Why have Leland chee invent a Canon system with tiers of canonicity?
On top of that, there's a lot of motive outside of story and lore that goes into the prequels.
If you look at the special features of the prequels, you'll notice that there's an enormous amount of time spent on technology.
George was emphatic that everything he was doing would become desirable by everyone else. And he was right.
The entire industry uses CGI for characters, Virtual sets, Non-linear editing, and Digital Cinema Cameras. Everything that George did from 1998 to 2005.
Ignoring the Lisa Simpson bit which is something Bob would never say, Moviebob's take here makes little sense.
The idea of making a movie about the making of Godfather makes sense because Italians love making things about Italians, and Hollywood loves making things about itself.
Plus, there are a few points that are apparently real, that could make a good movie.

Italian organized crime has three things that work in films. Aesthetics, Culture, and the setting.
There is a lot to take from, and the crimes ranged from petty to the highest powers in society.
If anything, I think that the existence of this twitter post basically proves the point that the Mafia and Italian Americans are culturally associated.

I love that Bob thinks the West is some bastion of Conservatism. Maybe I'm a complete fucking retard but I don't know that many super liberal countries that exist outside of "The West". But as I said, maybe I'm delusional.
Also, George Lucas not caring about lore is the most smooth brain shit. Sure, did Lucas memorize every piece of minutiae from the EU? No. But he clearly loved Star Wars. He spent god knows how many years working on it, he put blood, sweat, and tears, and for all his flaws, you can tell the man did everything in his power to make the film he thought everyone would love. Hell, the reason he sold it to Disney (beside getting enough money to probably buy a nation or two) was in part because he allegedly thought that they'd be able to take his franchise and keep it going and make it into what the people wanted.
Sure, George was wrong, and as I said, he's not without his flaws, but I'd take George Lucas' brand of insanity 10 times out of 10 over Blobert.

Back when I was more into webcomics, there were people on Smackjeeves who would promote print collections on Lulu and Indyplanet. Occasionally they would post a blog thanking everyone who had recently bought copies and encouraged others to do so too, but it was so obvious they hadn't sold a single copy, or had sold one at best. Because they were teenagers and had no idea how to promote themselves beyond posting on their host's website.
It's even sadder when a middle-aged man does this shit.

Really, the simplest way to blow these dimwits' arguments about George and lore out of the water is to point out that Star Wars began at episode 4. He had a whole story leading up to what would become the Original Trilogy, but he didn't think special effects in the 70s were good enough to live up to his vision, so he started later in the story and planned to circle back later.
Furthermore, Star Wars is Lucas's baby. To imply that he only cared about doing the absolute bare minimum to get the movies done when he spent years coming up with the world and backstory while writing the original screenplay is retardation of the highest order. Maybe he didn't go as in-depth as Tolkien did, but let's face it, it'd be a rare sight to see anyone come close to the worldbuilding of Tolkien. That doesn't mean that Lucas didn't do a hell of a lot on his own, and he remained a guiding hand for the overall story as it branched out into the EU.
In short, once again, Bob is absolutely fucking terrible at his "job."

Also, Disney was putting a ton of pressure on Lucas to sell. Bob Iger actually details this in his autobiography, The ride of a lifetime. Honestly without all those high pressure sales pitches, I doubt he would have sold.
I think pretty much everyone except for MovieBob is aware that Disney is a ruthless, cutthroat business entity behind "the happiest place on Earth" exterior. The Simpsons used to mock that all the time before they were gobbled up... by Disney.

This right here is why this moron mentioning Rian Johnson's film and George Lucas' film in the same breath angers me so much, and people pointing to TLJ's box office success as a "so there" makes me see fucking red. The reality is that TLJ's success is only an indicator of Star Wars as a franchise's staying power and the efficacy of Disney's marketing department(and their ability to sell to overseas monkeys, a luxury Lucas did not have). When George Lucas first pitched the movie, they had so little faith they let him take 100% of the merchandise rights. Compare this to Rian Johnson with a seven figure budget and the full power of Disney's propaganda machine behind him.
These people stand on the shoulders of what their forefathers have done and they took the next step. Which would be fine except they deny they're standing on anyone's shoulders out of one side of their mouth and call their forefathers racists and bigots out of the other. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Rian Johnson got some degree of sexual pleasure humiliating Mark Hamill by forcing him to take a sledgehammer to his most iconic character.
