I had to double back to this one:
Bob is blisteringly ignorant of the problems facing the trucking industry. It was already bad pre-coof, with various trucking companies having shortages of drivers, and the coof only made that shortage worse. I'd imagine it was more stressful for truckers during the height of the coof as more and more people bought shit online since they were stuck at home, adding to the workload.
And no, you can't just get "someone else" to drive them. The process of becoming a trucker is not insurmountable, but it does take time. According to the
FMCSA website, you'll need to get your commercial learner's permit first, which involves a driving record check over the last ten years across all 50 states, as well as requiring associated medical paperwork and fees. Then, you'll need to complete entry-level driving training, both theory and behind-the-wheel. Only after completing training and having your permit for 14 days can you then take your license skills test, which you have to pass to get your license (and probably pay more fees). And then, depending on state, you might have to wait for them to mail you your license before you can start trucking.
So bare minimum, you're looking at two weeks to get a new trucker up to speed. Here's the kicker: notice how that chart in the tweet shows just how much of society breaks down after
one week of stopped trucks. Even if you somehow managed to get enough newbies to replace the truckers on strike, you'd still have massive supply chain disruptions that would probably take
months to clear up, to say nothing of the potential issues of thousands of greenhorns on the roads.
And what "alternate conveyance" does Bob think exists? There are a lot of railroads, but they don't go everywhere, and it's not like you can just drop off a container car wherever you feel like. Airplanes can travel to more places, but that would be ridiculously expensive and could not replace trucks as a whole. And don't even get me started on boats.
Finally, I know he didn't mention it this time, but since he has in the past: no, Bob, robo-trucks aren't going to be a thing anytime soon. It's bad enough when a Tesla autopilot rams into a bollard at high speed, can you even imagine what would happen if an entire convoy of robo-trucks careened into oncoming traffic?
This fat fuck is just so monumentally stupid. He's so ensconced in his bubble of smug superiority that he can't even see how retarded he truly is.
I'll send a prayer to Kali for you.
