On that multiculture bullshit, for a moment there I thought he was talking about plantation cultures, in which case yeah, monocultures are bad because they exhaust the soil a lot faster and don't replenish it nearly enough.

But no, he meant something a lot less important to life. Why am I not surprised.

Not necessarily, just have some requirement that would make sure your voter base's political notions are grounded in real world experience and prove that they've got their shit together.

You can't just arbitrarily limit someone's voting rights after two and a half centuries of effective republican government. Especially nowadays, where owning property is not a big deal socially or politically.

What you're suggesting is no different than what Bob wants.

Jesus Christ Bob, you don't get it, do you? Imagine now if on CA and NY were completely infested with Republicans. Wouldn't you want the Democrats to win? With your logic, they could never have a chances because they have the numbers. But with the electoral college you can force a pact (that's mostly for the way it works in Spain) or balance that out with the states division.

Slighty :offtopic: . What's with fucking left-wing and their claims that "the system is broken", "electoral college is a failure". I met a girl on a English Conversation meet up who was from CA (iirc, I know it was a Blue State on the West) and she could now wrap her head around what I said. Holy shit, we have more or less the same system (although it allows third parties to be a bit more relevant, yet still has a lot of imperfections) and an absolute numbers system would be terrible.

Short answer is the EC is only a failure when it elects a Republican. When it elects Democrats, it's a bullwark against mob rule.

We do it to felons all the time, buddy.

Especially nowadays, where owning property is not a big deal socially or politically.

So it would be less of a barrier, then. Wouldn't that be a good thing, from your perspective?

The Constitution since day one specifies certain rights can be denied to people who are convicted through due process. That's not arbitrary. And we're talking about taking the rights of civic responsibility away from people who objectively hurt society: violent criminals. It's a far ding dong cry from the government saying "you don't own enough land so your opinion doesn't matter".

Bob would take it a step further and deny voting rights to people who vote Republican.
