I know, right? Things shouldn't evolve and become better. Like how the new DOOM totally doesn't take advantage of our ability to create truly 3d spaces to blow up, no sir! Everything should be like the NES with that controller that kills your fucking hands just holding it.

The only thing I don't like about "modern gaming" is the pretentious indie gaming scene. Those faggots can go suck start a shotgun, even if their games are fun.

Pff. It's all been downhill since the Odyssey.

Ask your doctor if Superior Future(C) is right for you.

Superior Future (c) does not apply to video game consoles. Side effects of Superior Future may include dizziness, sexual dysfunction, constipation, frequent urination, occasional purges of undesirables, and drowsiness. Do not take Superior Future (c) if you are nursing or may become pregnant.

Yes, the modern gaming bullshit of having fun.
Truly, Bob's hip to the games of today, and doesn't have a taste in games that stopped somewhere around 1995.

Taking Superior Future (c) puts you at increased risk of high blood pressure, weight gain, diabetes and erratic mood changes. If you begin to express any of these symptoms, please stop taking Superior Future (c) and consult your nearest blue-collar worker or farmer.

lol this is the movie that literally defined anime in America for a decade until DBZ made its way over here, and Bob claims nobody's heard of it. Unbelievable.
There's a porn star who literally based her stage name off the movie, who's also one of the more famous ones I might add. Calling Akira obscure is on the same level as calling something like Evil Dead obscure, just because it's a cult classic doesn't mean the mainstream doesn't know about it.

Also I just had a thought; wouldn't Bob's ideas for Akira be the very definition of white-washing, considering they're scrubbing away the Japanese influence by changing the name because "people haven't heard about it"? His suggestions for the name change are the whitest names possible too.

It's kind of the same thing with Mario. He wants to throw out the Japanese creator's story in favor of his autistic cartoon nostalgia fantasy American version. It's almost like Bob might be more racist than the people he calls racist all the time.

Superior future (c) is a suppository, make sure to shove it as far up your own ass as your head is.

What about 1996's Michael starring John Travolta?
That movie also didn't have hundreds of millions of dollars riding on it like the Akira remake will.

Bob also said that Overwatch "Isn't well-known by the general public." so he's wrong yet again.

It's not white-washing when he does it, it's totally white-washing "cultural adaptation".

When the charm of the original is there because of what makes up the original, why would you change it? It would be like changing the Aeneid so that it was a grand voyage from Scunthorpe to Cadiz and changing Aeneas' name to Michael. It just makes no sense.

Just to play Devil's Advocate for a moment, there is a tradition of remaking Asian films with Western characters (though I have no idea if Bob brings them up): Infernal Affairs = The Departed; Yojimbo = A Fistful of Dollars; Seven Samurai = The Magnificent Seven. I suppose the difference is that Akira, contra Bob's idiot analysis, is far better known among general audiences than any of those were at the time they were adapted.

Come on, Bob's a great authority when it comes to Japanese culture. Look at what he had to say about the original Ghost in the Shell:
Blobbo said:
...one of a handful of go-to Anime classics where one doesn’t necessarily feel obligated to place air quotes “classic” when describing it outside the tempura-crusted Shibuya tentacle dungeon that is contemporary Otaku fandom.
I can't wait for him to take the Ghostbusters route of insulting Akira fans in the universe where his ideas actually got picked up.

I know we should be focusing on his ignorant-cum-demented takes on pop culture and politics, but I'm just astonished he doesn't realize you shouldn't really type out "air quotes" when employing sarcastic quotes in text.

Also, isn't there something vaguely racist about the phrase "tempura crusted"? Hmmmm, Bob? Appropriating sushi for your own nefarious devices?

I wonder if Bob knows that this could also describe much of the Islamic world.

Also Japan has made films from white origins: Throne of Blood is Japanese Macbeth.

Absolutely! In college I saw something called Umabatha, the "Zulu Macbeth." Cross-cultural pollination is one of the things that enriches modern civilization. Now folks like Bob screech about "appropriation" and enforced diversity, which isn't the same thing at all.
