Hmmmm, Bob is partially 'correct' if the question was binary . Racism as we recognize the term is a early modern social contruct/quackery Western nations used to rationalize and explain the unjustifiable exploitation and abuse of weaker peoples. The whole ideal was really a mechanism to rationlize the hypocrisy of western imperialism but it has simply endured beyond neccesity since it's harder to remove a dumb idea which appeals to our lower selves than it is to create it.
That said Bob is simplifying, The tendancy to other human beings and treat them like shit is universal. Racism as we'd define it may be a product of 18-19th century hubris but the idea of hating people who are differant from you is depressingly common. For example ancient china despised outsiders, the romans and greeks considered themselves better than everyone else and pretty much everyone viewed the neighboring nation/tribe as garbage. Racism is just a sophisticated articulation of older tendancies. Before that it was religion, further back it was culture and right at the begining it was tribal. Anyone who knows anything about history knows Barbarian has all kinds of nasty conetations.
He's also incorrect to consider it an 'invention' as it is was an organic reaction to the circumstances of the time.
Also Bob indulges in the simular sentimentsas racists about people he can't relate too.
