Why does Bob believe so strongly in an one world government and sees no issues with that concept? With all his calls for it to be formed you'd think a few of his posts would explain what he thinks on people's concerns besides calling them bigots. Where's his progress going to come from if the people in power ban a field of research for offending their sensibilities?

Because he lives in a tiny, insulated bubble of lard where he has never once in his life had any need to know how the world actually works or do anything for himself at all.

Has anyone ever told Bob that "post-national globalism" would have a disproportionately negative impact on poorer people in urban areas (at least in the US), many of whom are black or other ethnic minorities and a disproportionately positive impact on already wealthy people, most of whom are white.

Also in Bobs superior future the white, rural people he so despises would probably do fairly well if only because the mid-west would become an even more important source of food than it is now (due to population growth), which would probably give farmers something of a boost at the very least. He doesn't seem to get small, family farms are often run by only 2 or 3 people as it is now and even in a superior future you'd need at least 1 or 2 people to look after the machines. At the very least farmers would be much less susceptible to losing their jobs to mechanisation compared to service industry jobs in fast food, clothes shops etc.

Bob has seriously not thought anything out at all, he seems to think that technology will advance such that Billy-Bob farming his corn in rural Iowa is no longer required and can be replaced but that Juan working at McDonalds or Walmart in downtown LA is still a vital and irreplaceable part of the workforce.

US agricultural production is deliberately kept down by subsidies, and has been since the Depression to avoid a repeat of the overproduction that caused it. If the population expanded like Bob Chipman's waistline, production would increase, requiring more agricultural workers to provide. Under Bob Chipman's model, though, few if any of these workers would be Americans, due to the greatly increased availability of cheap labour from the end of borders. The white rural population wouldn't like that at all, which is why they generally oppose immigration in the first place.

What people often ignore is that the rural US, particularly in the south west, already has a large non-white population of mostly Mexican labourers, which is why South Texas, unlike most of the state, leans left in elections. If the borders all came down, the numbers would greatly increase, and would spread across the entire country. Agriculture is one of the biggest employers of immigrant labour, not all of it legal. The association of non white people with urban areas is itself a narrow minded view; Mississippi has the greatest proportion of blacks of any state, and used to be black majority prior to the Great Migration of blacks to the north in the mid 20th century.

The thing is the only way Gene Roddenberry could envision humanity evolving the way Star Trek did was to have it be enslaved by genetic superhumans and then driven to the brink of extinction by nuclear war.

His vision of a one world government in that way made sense, as humanity would need to unite together to survive extinction. As we are now, without some catastrophe, humanity is way too fractured with different beliefs to ever survive under a single world government.

We are also so far from post-scarcity it is laughable.
