Correct me if I'm wrong but Bob and his parents live in the suburbs of Boston not the city proper right? Because if thats the case then his parents(being suburban/Northeastern urban adults in the 70s/80s) were probably Reagan Democrats or just Republicans outright. After all Bob has made no secret of the fact that he had an uneasy/cold relationship with his family and thats a good reason as any.

Except that union shop steward may very well have voted for Trump this time around after the Democratic Party completely and utterly fucked labor over. . .again. Bob has to believe that guy is a Nazi for doing that and had no rational basis for his decision.

Oh of course he hates family values because he is projecting so hard his disdain for his own family as if shitty Youtube videos is the way to get back at your parents, especially your dad. I am noticing family and daddy issues are a cornerstone of Lolcows.

Well I don't think so and people can form stable relationships without a family or not. However, you have to remember we are social creatures and it is in our blood and mind to procreate and pass on our genes and we tend to want to protect and nurture our offspring, hence the basic function of the family. You can argue the ideas of the traditional nuclear family are outdated as 1/2 of all marriages end in divorce. This is some major off topic stuff but I believe the "family" is important because I look at statistics of folks that come from single parent compared to two parent homes and comparison is rather staggering. On average (note this is merely averages as that isn't absolutes) people from two parent households tend to get better grades, have better social skills, and go on to form healthier relationships. That could be to money (which is a big factor) but even with a single parent that makes great money is going to work all the time and cannot be there for you so how can learn from them or get a solid bond.

Ultimately RockVolnutt your question is genuine and come from an honest and open place, whereas Bob's comes from a place of bitter resentment similar to a Militant Atheist to religion because he/she is either rebelling against mommy or daddy who forced them to go to church or they had bad experiences with religion and project it to the world

I wonder if it will ever dawn on Bob that people like him's attempts to ignore,shut down and write off cricism of Anita actually aggravated the situation rather than defused it......actually no I don't since Bob got fired from the escapist because he couldnt take a single step back so their's no way in Hell it'll ever dawn on him.
