Bob is a little younger than me, so I take his dad to be about my father's age, somewhere in his 60s. Clayton Moore portrayed the Lone Ranger from 1949 to 1957, which means his dad would have been introduced to the character when he was quite young, perhaps a bit older if he first encountered the show in reruns. Say somewhere from 5 to 12, which is just about exactly the demographic it appealed to -- think of those stereotypical '50s tykes who were dressed as Davy Crockett, Daniel Boone, and of course the Ranger himself. So Bob's dad showed a completely appropriate and expected nostalgia.

Bob is almost 40 and feeling that way about a series of movies he's watching right now, with an actor he would have first seen in the role only a few years ago.
