Ok ... so ... the guy who sings the praises of Marvel capeshit as if it were the second coming of Stanley Kubrick, or at least John Ford; the guy who wrote the Autistic Bible on Super Mario Bros. 3; the guy who regularly brags about the size of his Amiibo shelf; the guy who filmed his unpleasantly zeppelin-like form wearing a utility belt and a special effects galaxy over his bloated belly ... THAT FUCKING GUY called Game of Thrones "incredibly dorky?"
I don't watch GOT either...but I'm going to guess that Bob's problem with it is that something that wasn't around when he was growing up is very popular.
Also, Bob never explains why nations and tribes are obsolete.
The Democratic Empire's awesome government will convince everyone to join the US and break down the national barriers keeping us divided as a species. So how does Bob imagine the formation of the One World Government will go? How are we going to deal with something like....let's say Islamic countries refusing to be annexed into this, is it time for war and conquest? You'd think it'd hit Bob that he sounds imperialistic.

He has stated he'd be okay with that and there's nothing wrong with dynasties. What, you think he's not the type of guy who wanted the Clinton/Obama wives and daughters to be our next POTUSes?
He has stated he'd be okay with that and there's nothing wrong with dynasties.
He's never clear about it. He's okay with a dynasty but he also wants voting as long as it's "intelligent" people voting for the "right" things. I guess more of an oligarchy with one big central figure? What's interesting is I think he made a tweet about even being fine with an America under a Trump dynasty as long as his successors have the "right" views. So he wants the USA to become a monarchy?
Sound like a political Think Tank to me... Or one of those secret society around a table wearing robes running things behind the scenes you see in cartoons. He's never clear about it. I also don't see why Bob hates nationalism so much because you could argue that nationalism is why art, culture, and especially science thrives because nations want to throw as much money at them to one up the others.
Wouldn't Bob technically be the exact kind of nationalist he hates in his ideal world? I mean Bob's frustrations are arguably around no one conquering the whole planet yet but after that he'd be "My country, right or wrong".Bob's understanding of nationalism comes from watching people wave flags and shout USA during sports matches. Because he hasn't travelled or even read up on other cultures he doesn't understand that not all nationalism is "macho" or "dude-bro" like that and that often nationalism is encouraged by overtly left-wing poets and artists.
Pretty much. If he were British in 1870 he'd be up there with Disraeli, Rhodes and all the rest demanding that more of the map be painted red in order to spread glorious British civilisation to savages/heathens and usher in a golden age of a global British hegemony. I think he just wants someone to tell him what to do really.Wouldn't Bob technically be the exact kind of nationalist he hates in his ideal world? I can imagine he'd still be advocating for the eradication of every white male factory worker outside of the coastal states. I could also imagine him sperging on twitter about how Canada is beating the US in the race to be the most progressive and that Hillary needs to do more [insert ridiculous policy here] to try and out-progressive Trudeau, I don't think he'd ever be 100% happy with an election outcome unless someone with exactly his abstract mish-mash of ideas won.We overthink Bob again: Bob is spewing "globalism" just because he hates Trump. Had Rodham been elected he would yammer non-stop about how we should be proud to be American because we are all Prometheus who lead the World out of the dark age.
I think he just wants someone to tell him what to do really.
The weird thing is that Bob watches it, which threw me for a loop.Bob probably doesn't like it because it's adult media and Bob doesn't watch grown up shows. He also most likely resents the thematic deconstruction of the tropes fantasy is built on such as implicitly admitting the feudal system is deeply flawed and fantasy setting people would most likely act like real people.
Most likely because he doesn't know. We have a pretty whiggish approach to history in popular so bob presumes were moving towards a unified (neo liberal) species because "the story" of history says we are. It's also why trumps victory was such a hammer blow for him. He cannot come to terms with the superior future being stillborn. In some ways it might be more comfortable for him to resent trump and the rust belt rather than deal with Hillary being a bog-standard president who'll turn the middle east into a charnel house because some cunt shot up a kindergarten in the name of god.
